  • Prepare monthly work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, including costs incurred, percentage complete, earned revenue, and over/under billings.
  • Reconcile job costs to the general ledger and investigate variances between budgeted, committed, and actual costs.
  • Track and account for change orders, ensuring approved changes are reflected in contract value and budgets.
  • Support revenue recognition under the percentage-of-completion method and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASC 606).
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close, including job cost accruals and journal entries.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review job profitability, forecast costs to complete, and flag at-risk jobs.
  • Provide schedules and support for external auditors, sureties, and bonding companies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or a project-based / contract environment.
  • Working knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to reconcile complex cost data.
  • Effective communication skills to partner with project managers, division leaders, and senior management.
