Accountant - Grants & Contracts (Nonprofit)
About the Opportunity
A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking an Accountant - Grants & Contracts to support the financial management of government-funded contracts and grants. This role will partner closely with program leadership to manage budgeting, billing, financial reporting, grant compliance, and contract analysis while ensuring adherence to funding source requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the fiscal administration of assigned contracts and grants.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and budget modifications.
  • Process monthly, quarterly, and annual billings and invoices.
  • Prepare grant expenditure reports and track spending against approved budgets.
  • Analyze expenses, identify variances, and ensure compliance with funding restrictions.
  • Reconcile revenue and receivable accounts and monitor outstanding receivables.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other general ledger adjustments.
  • Collaborate with program directors to review contract spending and funding compliance.
  • Coordinate with external funding agencies regarding budgets, billings, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare contract closeout packages and support annual audits.
  • Generate financial reports and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with grants, contracts, budgeting, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience
