Position Title: GL Accounting Manager

Location: Leesburg, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Assignment type: Contract-to-Permanent

Compensation: $55.00 - $62.00 / Hourly

Work Schedule: M-F 9-5

Job Description:

A growing organization is seeking a GL Accounting Manager to join its expanding accounting team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing general ledger operations, leading the close process, and supporting financial reporting and process improvement initiatives in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong leadership capabilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience managing complex accounting operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analyses
  • Oversee accounting related to fixed assets, inventory, and revenue transactions
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance and operational teams to support reporting accuracy and cost allocation processes
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and support compliance initiatives
  • Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Support process improvement initiatives within a growing and evolving accounting function

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • ERP system experience required; JD Edwards experience preferred
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting processes highly preferred
  • Experience supporting audits and working in fast-paced environments preferred
  • Strong communication skills with an adaptable and team-oriented personality

Additional Details:

  • Hybrid schedule with onsite expectations Tuesday through Thursday
  • Position includes approximately 10–15 hours of overtime weekly
