Cannabis Grower - 3-Month 1099 Contract

Location: near Ada, Minnesota

Employment Type: 1099 Contract / Seasonal

Contract Duration: August-October

Schedule: Full-time, seasonal cultivation support

Compensation: $30-$35/hour, depending on experience

Position Overview

Staffed4U is hiring an experienced Cannabis Grower for a 3-month 1099 contract supporting a 1/2-acre cannabis cultivation farm near Ada, Minnesota. This position will run from August through October and is ideal for a hands-on cultivation professional with prior cannabis growing experience who is comfortable working in an outdoor or mixed cultivation environment. The selected candidate will support daily plant care, cultivation operations, harvest preparation, and overall crop health throughout the final months of the growing season. Housing is provided, and relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Support daily cultivation operations for a 1/2-acre cannabis farm

  • Monitor plant health and identify issues related to nutrition, irrigation, environmental stress, pests, disease, or overall crop condition

  • Assist with watering, feeding, pruning, trellising, defoliation, canopy management, and general plant maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional cultivation environment

  • Help prepare plants for harvest, including pre-harvest maintenance, harvest support, drying setup, and post-harvest activities

  • Assist with construction, installation, and maintenance of trellis systems, drying infrastructure, and harvest equipment

  • Assist with harvest planning, harvest execution, drying operations, and coordination of seasonal labor

  • Provide hands-on leadership and oversight during harvest, trimming, drying, and post-harvest processing activities

  • Assist in training, coordinating, and supporting temporary harvest and trimming crews to ensure quality standards are maintained

  • Maintain accurate records related to plant care, crop observations, harvest activities, inventory, and daily tasks completed

  • Work closely with ownership or farm leadership to ensure crop quality, production goals, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance are achieved

  • Assist with movement, organization, storage, and staging of hemp bales, harvest materials, cultivation supplies, drying equipment, and other farm inventory

  • Support irrigation installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair as needed

  • Monitor and assist with pest, rodent, wildlife, and gopher control efforts

  • Assist with security inspections, fencing, gate maintenance, and general farm readiness

  • Maintain cultivation equipment, tools, workspaces, and storage areas in good operating condition

  • Assist with lawn mowing, groundskeeping, weed control, and maintaining the overall appearance of the farmstead and surrounding property

  • Assist with general farm upkeep, facility maintenance, equipment organization, and seasonal agricultural tasks as needed

Required Qualifications
  • Previous cannabis cultivation experience required

  • Hands-on experience with outdoor, greenhouse, or farm-scale cannabis cultivation strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of plant health, watering, feeding, pruning, canopy management, and harvest preparation

  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions

  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow direction while working independently

  • Comfortable working in a seasonal, fast-paced farm environment

  • Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting outdoor or sun-grown cannabis operations

  • Knowledge of organic or sustainable cultivation practices

  • Experience with harvest planning and post-harvest preparation

  • Familiarity with compliance requirements in regulated cannabis environments

  • Ability to relocate temporarily for the duration of the contract

  • Experience leading harvest crews, seasonal farm labor, or agricultural production teams

  • Experience with cannabis drying, curing, trimming, and post-harvest operations

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot farm equipment, irrigation systems, and agricultural infrastructure

Additional Duties

This is a hands-on agricultural position within a startup cannabis cultivation operation. The contractor will be expected to contribute wherever needed to support successful cultivation, harvest, drying, processing, storage, and overall farm operations.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, cultivation, harvest, drying, trimming, packaging, inventory management, groundskeeping, facility maintenance, pest and wildlife control, irrigation work, equipment maintenance, moving agricultural materials, supervising temporary labor, and other reasonable farm-related activities necessary to support the operation.
