Job description

Principal Program Manager - Modular Services Continuum
Description -
Role Summary
HP Services is transforming to a Modular Services Continuum, shifting from fragmented service offerings to a scalable portfolio of configurable solutions that deliver tailored outcomes for customers and channel partners. This transformation is intended to simplify HP's services portfolio, reduce offer duplication, enable flexible monetization models, streamline go-to-market engagement, and create a seamless customer and partner experience.
The Principal Program Manager, Modular Services Continuum will serve as a strategic program leader and central integrator for this transformation. This role will coordinate execution across Lifecycle Services (LCS), Managed Services (MS), Digital Services (DS), Marketing, Operations, Finance, IT, and Product Management teams, ensuring priorities, roadmaps, decisions, dependencies, and deliverables remain aligned across the portfolio. This individual will lead governance processes, integrate portfolio workstreams, drive cross-organizational alignment, and maintain program visibility and accountability across the major transformation initiatives, or "Big Rocks," supporting the Modular Services Continuum strategy.
The Modular Services Continuum end goals include:
  • A clear, modular, and scalable services portfolio with reduced offer duplication
  • A unified journey across customer, partner, and HP experiences
  • Scalable and operationally viable delivery
  • Simple and effective go-to-market messaging
  • Flexible monetization models aligned to customer needs

The six "Big Rocks" are organized into four major transformation initiatives:
  • Modularize the Portfolio
  • Transform IT through modularized systems and process enablement
  • Enable Service Delivery through customer support readiness
  • Scale Go-To-Market through three workstreams: Marketing & Management of Change, Compensation & Incentives, and Contract / Legal Terms & Conditions transformation

Key Responsibilities
Program Governance & Executive Visibility
  • Establish and coordinate governance across the Modular Services Continuum initiative, including executive reviews, decision forums, steering committees, workstream governance, and operating rhythms.
  • Coordinate governance for the six major transformation workstreams ("Big Rocks"), ensuring alignment on priorities, dependencies, risks, outcomes, and cross-functional commitments.
  • Develop executive-level status reporting, dashboards, milestone tracking, business reviews, and strategic communications to provide clear visibility into progress, risks, and decisions.
  • Establish structured program rigor across planning, workstream readiness, implementation, governance, risk management, and post-launch follow-through, with clear mechanisms to track activities, timelines, obstacles, dependencies, decisions, and leadership actions.

Portfolio Strategy, Modularization & Roadmap Integration
  • Partner with services portfolio leaders across HP to define and maintain the modular portfolio framework, including Offers, Modifiers, Add-Ons, packaging strategies, and rationalization priorities.
  • Serve as the central integration point for Lifecycle Services (LCS), Managed Services (MS), and related portfolio transformation activities, consolidating improvement plans into a unified modularization roadmap.
  • Act as the central owner for integrating Managed Services (MPS, MDS, MCS, and Advise) roadmaps across multiple teams and organizations, ensuring short-term and long-term roadmap priorities are aligned to the broader services transformation strategy.
  • Maintain visibility into strategic initiatives, product plans, operational improvements, capability development efforts, and roadmap dependencies; identify overlaps, conflicts, gaps, opportunities, and planning needs across workstreams.

Cross-Functional Execution & Business Requirements
  • Act as a central integrator across Product Management, GTM, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Channel, and IT teams to translate strategic objectives into structured plans, requirements, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
  • Drive alignment between business requirements, operational requirements, and portfolio design activities to support operational scalability and long-term sustainability.
  • Identify, manage, and communicate program risks, issues, and dependencies with sufficient clarity to support timely escalation, decision-making, and mitigation.
  • Create clarity from ambiguity by translating unplanned or emerging business situations into actionable plans, ownership models, and resolution paths.

Stakeholder Alignment, Change Leadership & Communications
  • Build consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Drive organizational alignment around Modular Services Continuum goals and outcomes.
  • Influence stakeholders and leaders through consultative engagement, receptive listening, clear communication, and strong follow-through on commitments.
  • Facilitate collaboration between product management, operations, IT, marketing, and business leaders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align portfolio, operations, GTM, and IT stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required
Program & Transformation Leadership
  • 10+ years of experience in program management, product management, portfolio management, strategy, operations, or transformation leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale, cross-functional business transformation programs in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced, global environment while maintaining strong attention to detail, follow-up, and follow-through.

Services, Portfolio & Operational Acumen
  • Strong understanding of services businesses, portfolio management, operational processes, and services transformation.
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans, business requirements, operating models, and measurable outcomes.

Governance, Risk & Execution Discipline
  • Experience managing governance structures, executive operating rhythms, dashboards, status reporting, and program management frameworks for complex strategic initiatives.
  • Strong risk and issue management discipline, including the ability to identify obstacles early, escalate appropriately, and drive mitigation across cross-functional teams.

Executive Communication & Stakeholder Influence
  • Exceptional executive communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills across executive and operational teams.
  • Proven ability to drive alignment, exercise independent judgment, lead without direct authority, and create clarity in ambiguous or complex situations.

Preferred
  • Knowledge of HP Services businesses including Lifecycle Services (LCS), Managed Services (MS), Digital Services (DS), or related service organizations.
  • Experience with portfolio rationalization, modular service design, or service transformation initiatives.
  • Understanding of CPQ, entitlement, billing, and services operational processes.
  • Experience coordinating large roadmap planning and portfolio integration activities.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve business processes, research, planning, or program execution.
  • Experience supporting launch readiness, enablement planning, governance, or implementation of new services offerings in a global organization.

Impact & Scope
This role plays a critical leadership position within HP's Modular Services Continuum transformation and directly influences portfolio strategy, roadmap alignment, operational simplification, and organizational readiness across multiple service businesses. The successful candidate will serve as the connective tissue across numerous stakeholders and workstreams, ensuring that HP successfully delivers a modular, scalable, and customer-centric services portfolio. This position requires strong leadership without direct authority, exceptional program management capabilities, and the ability to drive alignment across highly complex organizations.
