What does a content reviewer do?

Content reviewers review, edit, and proofread online or printed content. Before a company can publish content, such as ads, email templates, written text, and other online information, a content reviewer is in charge of ensuring that the material is accurate, high-quality, free of errors, and appropriate for the intended audience. You work closely with content writers and editors, and your review may be the final step before the text is published. As a content reviewer, you may work in the office setting or remotely, and may be on the staff or work freelance on a short- or long-term contract basis.

What does a content reviewer do?

A Content Reviewer is responsible for evaluating and moderating user-generated content on websites, social media platforms, or other online services to ensure it complies with company policies and community guidelines. Their duties often include reviewing text, images, videos, and other media for inappropriate or harmful material, spam, or violations of terms of service. Content Reviewers help maintain a safe and positive online environment by flagging or removing content that does not meet standards. They may also provide feedback to improve content quality and consistency.

What skills do you need to be a content reviewer?

To thrive as a Content Reviewer, you need strong attention to detail, excellent language proficiency, and familiarity with content guidelines, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in communications or linguistics. Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), moderation platforms, and workflow tracking tools is typically required. Critical thinking, cultural awareness, and effective communication are key soft skills that help navigate complex content decisions and provide constructive feedback. These skills and qualities are crucial to ensure content accuracy, brand consistency, and compliance with legal and community standards.

What are some of the most common challenges faced by content reviewers, and how can they effectively address them?

Content Reviewers often encounter challenges such as handling large volumes of user-generated content, making quick yet accurate decisions, and dealing with sensitive or disturbing material. To manage these challenges, it's important to develop strong attention to detail, stay updated on platform policies, and utilize support resources provided by the employer. Many organizations also offer training and mental health support to help reviewers maintain well-being and high performance in this fast-paced environment.

Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Digital Marketing & Content Strategy leads SSA Group's digital marketing strategy, content strategy, and go-to-market execution across the organization, serving as the connective link between brand strategy, business development, partner marketing, and digital execution. This role owns the planning, development, optimization, and distribution of content that advances SSA's business goals, strengthens brand visibility, and drives engagement with target audiences across cultural attractions and hospitality markets.
The Senior Manager operates with a blend of hands-on execution and team leadership — setting content and SEO strategy directly while supervising and developing digital marketing team members who carry out day-to-day production. Their core responsibility is translating SSA's brand and business priorities into a coordinated digital content program that maintains editorial quality and consistency across every channel and audience.

The Senior Manager partners directly with marketing leadership to shape and execute SSA's go-to-market strategy, translating organizational priorities into concrete channel and content plans.

  • Partner with marketing leadership to develop and execute SSA's go-to-market strategy.
  • Align marketing initiatives with organizational priorities, business development objectives, partner needs, and growth opportunities.
  • Support launches of new programs, services, partnerships, initiatives, and strategic campaigns.
  • Develop audience, channel, and content recommendations that support awareness, engagement, and business growth.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen SSA's market positioning and competitive differentiation.

This role owns SSA's content strategy end to end, setting the editorial direction and priorities that guide every marketing deliverable across digital channels.

  • Own SSA's content strategy across digital channels and marketing initiatives.
  • Develop annual and quarterly content plans aligned with business priorities and target industry segments.
  • Oversee development of thought leadership, case studies, website content, newsletters, sales collateral, industry one-pagers, blogs, white papers, and other marketing materials.
  • Ensure content supports SSA's positioning and broader brand narrative.
  • Establish content priorities based on business goals, audience needs, and market opportunities.
  • Manage content calendars and publishing schedules.

Content Quality & Brand Governance

The Senior Manager serves as the primary owner of content quality, holding every marketing deliverable to a consistent standard of accuracy, tone, and brand alignment before it reaches an audience.

  • Serve as the primary owner of content quality across all marketing deliverables.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging, tone, voice, style, and brand positioning.
  • Implement and maintain content review and approval processes.
  • Partner with copyediting and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and quality.
  • Review major marketing assets prior to publication, production, or launch.
  • Maintain editorial standards and content governance documentation.

SEO & Organic Growth Strategy

This role drives SSA's organic visibility strategy, applying technical and content-based SEO practices to strengthen discoverability across search engines and emerging AI-powered search experiences.

  • Develop and implement SEO strategies that improve visibility across search engines and AI-powered search experiences.
  • Conduct keyword research, technical SEO reviews, and content optimization initiatives for SSA and partner websites.
  • Identify opportunities to improve discoverability of SSA content and thought leadership.
  • Monitor organic performance and recommend optimization opportunities.
  • Support website architecture and content strategies that strengthen search visibility.

Analytics & Performance Insights

The Senior Manager connects digital activity to business outcomes, using performance data to guide strategy and inform leadership decision-making.

  • Utilize Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, HubSpot, and related tools to monitor performance.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting that connect digital activity to business outcomes.
  • Analyze content performance, website engagement, search visibility, and audience behavior.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on performance data and market trends.
  • Support quarterly business reviews and marketing planning processes.

Team Management & Development

The Senior Manager builds team capability through direct supervision, coaching, and clear delegation, ensuring digital marketing team members and contractors are set up to do their best work.
