Content Rater information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Content Rater, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Rater, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of internet search engines and content guidelines, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with online rating platforms, web browsers, and sometimes proprietary evaluation tools is required. Strong communication, time management, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure consistent, accurate assessments of online content, directly impacting user experience and the quality of search results.

What are some common challenges faced by Content Raters, and how can they be effectively managed?

Content Raters often encounter challenges such as evaluating large volumes of diverse content within tight deadlines and maintaining objectivity when assessing sensitive or ambiguous material. Staying consistent with evolving guidelines and adapting to frequent changes in evaluation criteria can also be demanding. Effective time management, regular review of updated protocols, and open communication with team leads or quality analysts help manage these challenges. Additionally, participating in training sessions and peer discussions can improve accuracy and confidence in decision-making.

What are Content Raters?

Content Raters are individuals who evaluate and provide feedback on the quality, relevance, and accuracy of online content, such as search engine results, advertisements, or social media posts. They follow specific guidelines set by companies to ensure that the content aligns with user expectations and company standards. Content raters play a key role in improving algorithms by manually reviewing and rating content, helping to refine search results and online experiences for users. This position often requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and a good understanding of local culture and language.

Job description

Video Content Capture

Content Capture Contractor — Tulsa Opera (Contract, Event-Based)

Tulsa Opera is contracting a local photo/video content capture specialist to shoot at our productions, rehearsals, and community events throughout the 2026–27 season. This is a great fit for a college student in film, photography, journalism, marketing, or performing arts who wants flexible contract work and a behind-the-scenes look at one of Oklahoma's oldest performing arts companies.

What you'll do

  • Capture short-form video and photo content at performances, dress rehearsals, opening nights, and tie-in events (book clubs, Circle Cinema screenings, lobby concerts, community activations)
  • Focus on the moments that actually move on social: audience reactions, full-house wide shots, candid backstage energy, the vibe of the room — not curtain calls or the back of someone's head
  • Upload raw footage and stills to a shared drive within 24 hours of each event, lightly organized by event and date
  • Coordinate with the marketing manager on shot lists before each call

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable shooting on a smartphone (iPhone preferred) — no pro camera required, though it's a plus if you have one
  • A good eye for angles, composition, and what's interesting — we'll train you on what reads well for opera audiences, but instinct matters
  • Reliable, on time, and able to work independently once you know the assignment
  • Available evenings and some weekends; most calls are 2–4 hours
  • Currently enrolled at a Tulsa-area college or university

Nice to have

  • Basic editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, Lightroom)
  • Familiarity with Instagram Reels and short-form video trends
  • Some background in or curiosity about opera, classical music, or theater

Logistics

  • Independent contractor (1099), event-based — booked per call, typically 2–4 hours each
  • Estimated volume: roughly 4–12 hours per week during active production periods, lighter in between
  • Rate: [per-hour or per-call rate to be filled in]
  • Works directly with the Marketing Manager
  • Most events are downtown Tulsa; reliable transportation needed

To apply: send a short note about why you're interested plus 3–5 examples of photo or video work (Instagram, TikTok, portfolio link, or just a few files) to [email].
