Conducts eligibility interviews for all applicants of the Housing Programs. Receives documentation and maintains associated records.
Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Answers questions concerning Community Development Housing Program in person and on the telephone.
  • Performs preliminary screening of all inquires to verify completion of the application and initial eligibility and verifies content of all applications.
  • Submits eligible applications for funding; follows up on pending applications and notifies applicants of status; secures additional documentation from applicant as needed.
  • Assists in marketing efforts for the Department's Housing Programs.
  • Distributes preliminary inspection forms to Housing Rehab Inspectors.
  • Manages delinquent accounts.
  • Prepares monthly performance/status reports; sets up and updates project files on internal and external accounting systems.
  • Processes contractors payments.
  • Prepares semi-annual statements on all Housing accounts.
  • Prepares requisitions for the purpose of materials, supplies, and services as needed.
  • Receives loan payments in person and through mail; issues receipts; maintains ledgers of names, date, amount and receipt number; ensures payments are acknowledged and deposited.
  • Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in bookkeeping, public administration, accounting, social work, office administration, housing programs, or related field.
Foreign Education:
  • Applicants who have completed education outside of the United States must submit a foreign credential evaluation completed by a professional credential evaluation agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE). The evaluation must verify the U.S. equivalency of the degree and identify the comparable U.S. degree level. Applicants are responsible for obtaining and submitting the required evaluation documentation.

Note: The City of Laredo is not responsible for any fees associated with obtaining a foreign credential evaluation or educational equivalency documentation.
