How much do content photographer jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 13, 2026, the average hourly pay for content photographer in the United States is $20.36, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.38 and $21.63 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are content photographers?

Content photographers are professionals who create high-quality images tailored for digital platforms, such as websites, social media, blogs, and marketing campaigns. Their work often involves capturing products, people, events, or lifestyles in a way that aligns with a brand's visual identity and marketing goals. Content photographers not only take photos but may also handle editing and post-production to ensure the images are optimized for online engagement. They collaborate closely with creative teams to produce images that drive audience interest and brand awareness.

How does a Content Photographer typically collaborate with marketing and creative teams?

Content Photographers often work closely with marketing and creative departments to ensure visual assets align with brand messaging and campaign goals. This collaboration involves participating in brainstorming sessions, receiving briefs, and providing input on shot lists and concepts. Regular communication is essential, as photographers must adapt their style to fit different platforms or audiences and may need to coordinate with designers, writers, and social media managers to produce cohesive content. Such teamwork not only helps maintain brand consistency but also fosters creative exchange and professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Content Photographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Photographer, you need a solid grasp of photography techniques, composition, lighting, and typically a portfolio showcasing your work. Proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and sometimes certification in digital photography are commonly expected. Creativity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with clients or creative teams set outstanding content photographers apart. These skills ensure the production of visually compelling images that effectively communicate a brand's message and engage target audiences.

Is AI replacing photographers?

AI technology is increasingly used in photography for tasks like editing, retouching, and generating images, but it does not replace the role of a professional photographer. Content photographers rely on creative vision, technical skills, and understanding of composition, which AI cannot fully replicate. AI tools serve as assistants to enhance productivity rather than replace the need for skilled photographers.

What is the 80 20 rule in photography?

In photography, including for content photographers, the 80/20 rule suggests that 80% of results come from 20% of efforts, meaning focusing on the most impactful shots or techniques yields the best outcomes. Prioritizing key subjects, lighting, and composition can improve efficiency and quality in photo shoots.

Is $4000 a lot for a wedding photographer?

For a wedding photographer, a $4000 fee is generally considered to be on the higher end of the typical price range, which can vary based on experience, location, and package details. Experienced photographers with professional equipment and extensive portfolios often charge higher rates, while beginners may offer lower prices. The cost usually covers pre-visualization, editing, and the number of hours worked at the event.

Working at Bauer is like playing on a hockey team. We empower each other to be our best. Everyone on the team has an important role to play. You might be leading others or collaborating with teammates on a big project. Whatever your title, you are part of something bigger than yourself.

Founded in 1927, Bauer Hockey developed the first skate. Since then, our passion for the game, drive for innovation, and commitment to the hockey community have made us the most trusted brand in hockey.

Purpose & Core Values:

Our purpose at Bauer is to enrich life experiences through sports. We have the responsibility to cultivate the future of our brands. We are always "we" and never "I".  We love what we do. We believe anything is possible and work to be our best. We strive to always redefine the standard of excellence in all that we do.

Want to join our team as a Photographer?

The Photographer is responsible for bringing Bauer Hockey's visual voice to life through progressive, trend-forward photography. Skills should be well versed in lifestyle, studio, events/editorial, athlete in-action and product photography - all with a heavy emphasis on being made for social/digital/retail channels. The photographer will ensure all images are consistent with the Bauer Hockey style guide and that production and productivity targets are met. Great attention to detail and relevant knowledge of hockey, hockey culture/lifestyle, fashion and general sports photography is a must. This role works cross-functionally and requires a highly collaborative style with the ability to influence and motivate action.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end photography and execute all content shoots.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with creative, digital, product and channel teams.
  • Deep understanding and interest around social content and the evolution of photography on social channels.
  • Deliver assets optimized for social (IG, YT, paid), digital (bauer.com, ecomm, & paid ads), retail (in-store signage, etc).
  • Ability to share set/space with multiple parties: video, native shooters, product managers, etc.
  • Expert at in-action photography and working with athletes of all levels - beginner to pro.
  • Perform image processing and transfer with re-touch capabilities.
  • Maintain strict standards of quality control, staying up to date with art direction and adhering to guidleines/specs.
  • Monitor all studio photography equipment and manage photography maintenance and tools.
  • Assist on editorial and creative marketing shoots and ad hoc projects as required.
  • Support and grow roster management of content sourcing photographers.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry tools, techniques, and best practices in photography.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant field experience in sports industry with commercial, brand or in-house photography.
  • Advanced knowledge of photography, lighting, Adobe Suite, color treatment and photo editing.
  • Team player with great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative thinker who problem solves and able to process high volumes of workflow.
  • Ability to influence on-set decision making - i.e., pace setting, model positioning & model expression.
  • Direct experience producing work for sport, lifestyle, performance, or culturally-driven consumer brands; familiarity with athlete-driven content and emerging tools (including AI) preferred.
  • Operate out of Exeter, NH office (in-house studio location) and travel as needed and/or required by essential job functions.
