How You Will Contribute
The Website Content Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and publishing of Communications and Marketing website content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional goals. This role serves as the central point of contact for all Communications and Marketing web content across the organization. The Information and Interpretive Technologies (IIT) department has primary responsibility for the museum's website, and this role serves as the liaison between the Communications and Marketing division and IIT.
Specifically, you will:
  • Manage the full lifecycle of Communications and Marketing website content, including content strategy, stakeholder coordination, review and approval of workflows, publishing, and ongoing maintenance across staging and live environments.
  • Coordinate with departments to gather, review, and approve content for the homepage, exhibition, event, and visitor information pages.
  • Ensure website content adheres to editorial and brand standards through copy-editing, factchecking, proofreading, and quality review processes.
  • Process website update requests by modifying text, images, embedded video content, and related assets within the museum's content management system, utilizing basic HTML tagging as needed.
  • Create and optimize web-ready graphic assets for desktop and mobile experiences using Adobe Photoshop templates, approved imagery, and provided copy.
  • Review and publish event submissions, maintain accurate and up-to-date online calendars and event listings.
  • Maintain digital assets, including proper credits, metadata, and file organization.
  • Develop and manage content launch timelines and publishing workflows while providing stakeholders with guidance on requirements, deadlines, and web publishing best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Information and Interpretive Technologies (IIT) department and internal stakeholders to support website enhancements and content initiatives.
  • Monitor site performance and recommend improvements to user experience, content effectiveness, and website functionality.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to address and provide emergency website updates outside normal working hours.

Your background and experience include:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4+ years of experience managing website content and publishing workflows within content management systems.
  • Excellent editorial, proofreading, factchecking, and web writing skills.
  • Experience creating digital assets using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and web publishing best practices.
  • Experience with Jira, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, and SharePoint preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management, project coordination, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across management and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience coordinating digital projects and serving as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders preferred.
  • Basic understanding of web analytics, SEO best practices, and user experience principles.

Position and Compensation Details
  • The salary for this position is $64,133.
  • This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
  • This position reports to the Director of Marketing.
  • This position is required to be performed fully onsite at Philadelphia Museum of Art locations three days per week, and remote two days depending on the schedule for the week at the discretion of the manager.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
