Description
The Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Student Publications Manager position.
Examples of Duties
  • Recruitment and training of student stall, including conducting bi-annual workshops.
  • Assist student staff with story/content production for The Blue & White Flash campus newspaper and JSU experience Magazine, which includes staff meetings, story assignments, photo assignments, writing assistance, and editing.
  • Oversee the review/editing and approval process for all published content by deadline.
  • Oversee contracted web manager and graphic designer with content for the newspaper website and printed magazine.
  • Coordinate the publication/distribution of The Blue & White Flash newspaper and experience Magazine.
  • Ensure compliance with journalism industry standards and Code of Ethics.
  • Responsible for all clerical and office management duties, including but not limited to maintaining budget accounts and files.
  • Coordinate production schedules for newspapers and magazines.
  • Supervise JMS Practicum students.
  • Supervise payroll timesheets for work-study/work.-aid students.
  • Supervise content archiving and retrieval processes.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
