Job description

Content Creator & Social Media Marketing Intern

Part-Time | Knoxville, TN | Paid Internship with Opportunity for Full-Time Employment

About Us

Do you love creating content that people actually stop scrolling to watch?

Are you the person who's always filming, editing videos, spotting the latest social media trends, or thinking, "That would make a great Reel"? Do you enjoy meeting new people, exploring Knoxville, attending community events, and telling stories through photos and video?

If so, we want to meet you.

The Plumbing Authority is one of Knoxville's fastest-growing plumbing companies, and we're looking for a creative, outgoing, and ambitious Content Creator & Social Media Marketing Intern to help us build one of the strongest social media brands in East Tennessee.

This isn't a typical social media internship.

We're looking for someone who wants to take ownership of our social media presence, create content that stands out, build relationships throughout the community, and help us become the plumbing company everyone recognizes online.

You'll spend your time creating content at job sites, filming our technicians, attending community events, partnering with local businesses, brainstorming creative campaigns, and turning everyday plumbing into engaging content people actually want to watch.

If you're looking for an internship where your ideas matter, you'll fit right in.

For the right person, this internship has the potential to grow into a full-time career.

What You'll Do

Own Our Social Media

  • Help plan, create, and manage content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent content calendar and posting schedule.
  • Film, edit, and publish engaging Reels, TikToks, Shorts, and other short-form video content.
  • Create graphics and social media assets using Canva.
  • Write compelling captions and social media copy.
  • Monitor engagement and interact with followers when appropriate.
  • Track analytics and recommend new ideas to improve engagement and audience growth.
  • Stay on top of trends, new platform features, and emerging content styles.

Create Original Content

  • Visit residential and commercial job sites to capture authentic photos and videos of our technicians, projects, equipment, and customer experiences.
  • Create behind-the-scenes content that showcases our people, company culture, and day-to-day operations.
  • Conduct interviews with technicians, customers, and community partners when appropriate.
  • Capture content that highlights both the technical side of plumbing and the personalities behind our team.
  • Edit content into engaging stories that educate, entertain, and build trust with our audience.

Lead Community Marketing

  • Research and identify local festivals, community events, sponsorships, networking opportunities, and outreach events where The Plumbing Authority should have a presence.
  • Plan and coordinate our participation at local events.
  • Develop creative booth activities, contests, giveaways, and interactive experiences that encourage community engagement.
  • Capture event content before, during, and after each event.
  • Represent The Plumbing Authority professionally while interacting with community members and local businesses.

Build Community Partnerships

  • Develop relationships with local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community organizations.
  • Pitch creative collaboration ideas that generate content and increase visibility for everyone involved.
  • Help position The Plumbing Authority as an active and recognizable member of the Knoxville community.

Bring New Ideas

We don't expect you to simply check boxes.

We want someone who constantly asks:

"How can we make this more interesting?"

"How can we make people stop scrolling?"

"How can we become the plumbing company everyone knows?"

If you're always thinking creatively, you'll thrive here.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Loves creating social media content.
  • Has excellent photography and videography skills.
  • Knows how to film and edit engaging short-form video.
  • Has experience using Canva and other creative tools.
  • Understands what performs well on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Is creative, outgoing, and comfortable meeting new people.
  • Can manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Is organized enough to maintain a consistent posting schedule.
  • Takes initiative and doesn't wait to be told what to do.
  • Wants to help build something, not just maintain it.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing or growing social media accounts for a business, organization, or personal brand.
  • Experience with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar editing software.
  • Photography and videography experience.
  • Graphic design experience using Canva.
  • Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related coursework is a plus but not required.
  • Currently enrolled in a college, university, or technical program, or a recent graduate.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the Knoxville area for content creation and community events.

Why Join The Plumbing Authority?

This is more than an internship.

You'll have the opportunity to build your portfolio, create content viewed by thousands of people, develop real marketing experience, work directly with leadership, and make a measurable impact on a growing local business.

Your ideas won't get buried in meetings-they'll get tested.

If you're someone who wants creative freedom, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to grow into a full-time role, we'd love to hear from you.

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience, skills, and portfolio quality.

Approximately 15-20 hours per week with a flexible hybrid schedule.

How to Apply:

Please submit:

  • Resume
  • Portfolio or work samples
  • Links to social media accounts, pages, or campaigns you've managed (if applicable)
  • Examples of videos you've filmed and edited
  • A brief explanation of your role in each project

Applications without portfolio links or content samples will not be considered.

Bonus Application Question

Imagine you started working with us next week.

Tell us three creative content ideas you would create for a plumbing company, including at least one idea involving a partnership with another local Knoxville business or community event.

We're looking for creativity more than perfection.
