What is a content creator?

A Content Creator is a professional who produces engaging and relevant material for digital platforms, such as blogs, social media, websites, or video channels. Their work can include writing articles, creating videos, designing graphics, or producing podcasts to attract and engage audiences. Content Creators often tailor their material to suit the target audience and platform, using creativity and strategy to achieve marketing or communication goals. They may work independently or as part of a larger marketing or media team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a content creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Creator, you need strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, often supported by experience in digital media or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, SEO tools, and basic graphic or video editing software is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and effective communication are standout soft skills for connecting with audiences and responding to changing trends. These skills are essential for producing engaging, high-quality content that drives audience growth and meets organizational goals.

What are some common challenges content creators face when managing multiple projects or platforms?

Content Creators often juggle several projects and platforms at once, which can make time management and consistency challenging. Balancing the unique requirements of each channel—such as adapting tone, format, and posting frequency—requires strong organizational skills. Additionally, staying up-to-date with trends and algorithms while meeting deadlines can be demanding. Collaborating effectively with designers, marketers, and other team members is key to ensuring cohesive and high-quality output across all platforms.

To become a content creator, relevant qualifications include strong communication skills, creativity, and proficiency with digital tools such as video editing, graphic design, or content management platforms. Job description

Position Summary: The Marketing Content Writer is primarily responsible for developing, writing, editing, and publishing long-form marketing content - including websites, landing pages, blogs, articles, email campaigns, advertisements, and sales support materials - for our brands and specialty program business. We're interested in candidates with a journalism or reporting background: people who know how to research a topic, find the angle that matters, and write clean, accurate, engaging copy on deadline. Depending on team needs, this role may also contribute to social media content (copy, light graphics, or scheduling support), so familiarity with social platforms is a plus, but writing is the core of the job.
This position collaborates closely with the Digital Marketing and Program Management teams to produce clear, accurate, on-brand content that drives traffic, builds engagement, grows audience, and supports lead generation and conversion goals.
Essential Tasks:
Content Creation & Copywriting
  • Write, edit, and refresh copy for websites, landing pages, blogs, articles, email campaigns, ad copy, print collateral, partner assets, and related marketing materials.
  • Develop clear, audience-focused messaging that reflects brand standards while supporting awareness, engagement, and conversion goals.
  • Research and translate insurance concepts, product features, and program differentiators into clear, compelling content for external audiences.
  • Interview subject matter experts, clients, and program stakeholders to source accurate, credible details for articles and campaign content.
  • Support content needs for specialty program launches, campaign updates, and ongoing promotional initiatives.

Social Media Content Creation & Ownership
  • Own the social media content process end-to-end: ideation, copywriting, graphic and video creation, and scheduling/publishing.
  • Write and design social posts across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts) for multiple brands and specialty program lines.
  • Develop post concepts and reusable templates that keep content fresh, on-brand, and efficient to produce at volume.
  • Create graphics and short-form video/motion content using design and editing tools appropriate to each platform.
  • Schedule and publish content using Agorapulse or native platform scheduling tools, maintaining an organized content calendar.
  • Tailor tone, format, and messaging for each platform and target audience rather than repurposing one post across all channels.
  • Create guest/promotional posts for partner organizations to publish on their own social media profiles.

SEO, Trends & Optimization
  • Apply on-page SEO best practices and keyword guidance to improve discoverability and content performance.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform algorithm changes, formats, and best practices, and proactively bring new ideas to the team.
  • Apply platform-specific best practices (hashtags, captions, posting cadence, accessibility) to improve reach and engagement.
  • Help maintain editorial and social content calendars, content priorities, and publication timelines aligned with marketing campaigns.
  • Review, proofread, and refine content for grammar, clarity, tone, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Monitor performance indicators such as traffic, engagement, search rankings, follower growth, click-through, and conversion signals, and recommend content updates based on insights.
  • Support A/B testing of post copy, creative, and formats, and campaign variations, to continually improve results.

Collaboration & Content Support
  • Partner with marketers, subject matter experts, designers, and program stakeholders to gather inputs and produce effective content.
  • Support Digital Marketing with copy for nurture journeys, campaign assets, calls to action, product launches, and A/B testing variations.
  • Assist with content for sales enablement, external publications, event materials, and other audience-facing communications as needed.
  • Maintain organized workflows and content calendars across multiple assignments, brands, products, and partners in a fast-paced environment.

Core Competencies:
  • Ability to Analyze and Solve Problems: Skill in recognizing challenges, exploring options, and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Attention to Detail: A strong focus on completing tasks and projects accurately and thoroughly
  • Communication Skills: Capable of expressing ideas clearly in both verbal and written forms and engaging with various audiences
  • Timely Task Completion: Ability to finish tasks and projects efficiently, managing resources and priorities effectively
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to work together with others, promoting teamwork and supporting shared goals
  • Client Focus: Dedication to understanding and addressing the needs of clients and stakeholders to ensure their satisfaction
  • Dependability: Acknowledgment of the importance of being present and punctual
  • Creative Thinking: Openness to suggesting new ideas and methods to improve processes and outcome
  • Organizational Skills: Capability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Adaptability: Willingness to adjust to changing situations and priorities, showing resilience in a dynamic work environment

Experience and Education:
  • 2-4 years of experience in journalism, reporting, content writing, copywriting, or a related marketing communications role.
  • Demonstrated experience creating content for blogs, websites, emails, ads, landing pages, or similar long-form formats.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences and channels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with B2B, service-based, or regulated industries is helpful but not required.
  • Experience writing for newspapers, magazines, trade or industry publications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content formats, or scheduling tools is a plus, but not required.

Licensing and Credentials:
  • Property & Casualty license preferred, or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe with company support.
  • Completion of relevant training or coursework as determined by the company upon hire.

Systems:
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS) preferred.
  • Familiarity with SEO tools, keyword research, and basic web analytics.
  • Proficiency with standard productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project management platforms).
  • Experience with social media scheduling platforms (e.g., Agorapulse) or basic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift twenty-five pounds.
  • Frequent use of vision to read documents and computer screens.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to communicate by phone and in person.
  • Repetitive hand movements, including typing and writing.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and stretch as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required for client meetings or industry events.
