A Content Creator is a professional who produces engaging and relevant material for digital platforms, such as blogs, social media, websites, or video channels. Their work can include writing articles, creating videos, designing graphics, or producing podcasts to attract and engage audiences. Content Creators often tailor their material to suit the target audience and platform, using creativity and strategy to achieve marketing or communication goals. They may work independently or as part of a larger marketing or media team.

Senior Content Strategist (Social & Platform Strategy)

Praytell

Chicago, IL • On-site

Full-time

Medical, Life, Retirement

Re-posted 4 days ago

Job description

Praytell is a creative communications agency made up of strategic minds, spirited hearts and people with a strong instinctive recoil from anything remotely boring. We create culture-driven, integrated work that earns attention, sparks conversation and makes people… well, give a shit. But more than that, we’re a team of curious builders, thoughtful challengers and collaborative problem-solvers who believe the best work starts with a simple question: what if we?

What if we pushed the idea further? Solved the problem differently? Built something better?

Our work moves fast, evolves constantly and rarely fits neatly inside a box - which is exactly how we like it. The people who thrive here ask questions, chase ideas, spot opportunities and care enough to go beyond the brief. They don’t wait for a perfect roadmap or a tap on the shoulder - they’re energized by figuring things out, making things better and helping shape what comes next.

We hold ourselves to a high bar, but we’re not pretending to be a perfect agency filled with perfect people doing perfect work 100% of the time. We’re humans. Sometimes the work runs late. Sometimes the process is still being built. Sometimes there isn’t a policy, playbook or perfect answer for every little thing. What we do have is a genuine commitment to getting better - evolving how we work, support our people and build the kind of agency we want to be, together.

So that’s our promise to you. If curiosity drives you, ownership excites you and “what if we?” feels more like a life mantra than a question - we’d love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Content Strategist, you will:

  • Lead social and content strategy across assigned accounts
    • Develop monthly organic social briefs, content strategy inputs, content calendar guidance, and platform/channel direction
    • Translate client goals, audience behavior, cultural signals, and platform shifts into clear content direction
    • Bring a POV on what brands should post, test, stop doing, or push further
  • Write briefs that creative and creator teams can actually use
    • Build social-first briefs for monthly content, campaigns, creators, and CGC
    • Turn insights, trends, performance learnings, and audience tension into useful creative direction
    • Clarify platform roles, audience behaviors, formats, hooks, messages, and reasons to believe
  • Review and sharpen creative
    • Partner with Creative on concept reviews and pressure-test ideas for platform fit, brand fit, audience relevance, and clarity
    • Guide feedback on hooks, formats, pacing, product integration, messaging, and social behavior
    • Know when to push, when to clarify, and when to get out of the way
  • Turn reporting into next steps
    • Partner with Analytics on monthly organic social reports and campaign recaps
    • Translate performance data into clear takeaways, implications, and recommendations
    • Connect reporting learnings back into briefs, calendars, creator feedback, and client guidance
  • Stay close to platforms and culture
    • Track relevant shifts across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Reddit, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and other platforms as needed
    • Bring forward timely, brand-relevant ideas without forcing brands into places they do not belong
  • Support client and agency collaboration
    • Explain the "why" behind content direction, platform recommendations, creative feedback, and optimizations
    • Help connect organic social to broader earned, creator, paid, and integrated campaign work
    • Work closely with Creative, Analytics, PR, Influencer/Creator, Account, Paid Media, and Project Management.
What You Bring
  • 4-6 years of experience in social media strategy, content strategy, digital strategy or integrated communications
  • Agency, social agency, PR agency, creative agency, influencer agency or content studio experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of organic social and how content behaves across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, Threads, LinkedIn and other relevant platforms
  • Deep fluency in short-form video, including creator-led content and influencer work
  • Experience writing social briefs, content briefs, monthly content plans, creator/UGC briefs, campaign inputs or channel strategies
  • Can spot what is actually happening in culture, not just what is loud online, and translate it into ideas a brand has a real reason to act on
  • Curiosity and working knowledge of how emerging communities and platforms (Reddit, Twitch, WhatsApp, etc.) are shaping consumer engagement
  • Skilled at partnering with analytics teams to interpret social performance metrics and turn them into practical optimization guidance
  • Strong writing skills for briefs, POVs, reporting commentary, client decks and internal recommendations
  • Comfortable sharing a clear POV in internal and client conversations
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, timelines, reviews and deliverables without losing the thread
  • Love a sharp brief, a strong hook and a TikTok concept that feels native to the platform
  • Creative enough to push the work, organized enough to keep it moving and practical enough to know the difference
