Job Title: Marketing Specialist

Division: Enrollment and Marketing

Supervisor: Director of Enrollment Marketing

Hours: Full-time, exempt


Job Summary

The Marketing Specialist assists in creating and executing marketing strategies for the university. This includes tracking marketing campaigns across different departments within the university and with outside vendors/partners to ensure cohesion to brand standards, assisting in creating marketing materials (for website, print collateral, emails), social media. The specialist will serve as project coordinator and manager of marketing projects for the Office of Marketing, including maintaining tasks and timelines in our project management system, Hive.


Essential Functions:

  • Assists in creating and executing marketing strategies.
  • Collaborates with other internal teams (e.g. Enrollment and academic departments to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives).
  • Responsible for tracking marketing campaigns across different departments within the university and with outside vendors, including creating reports to show progress.
  • Researches the market, analyze trends to help define our marketing strategy, and provides advice as to how to best reach the target market.
  • Writes, proofreads and edits creative and technical content across different mediums.
  • Edit and manage front end content for the organization's web presence, copyedit and proofread all web content, create and develop web landing pages, sections, and content requested by departments
  • Coordinates social media messaging for main university accounts, creating and posting content regularly and assisting with editorial plan.
  • Creates social media content through writing, photography and video.
  • Serves on Marketing's editorial team, providing strategic input on communication plans and assisting in the execution (writing, editing and publishing) of those plans.
  • Serves as project manager (50% of job) working closely with Graphic Designer to ensure all projects are completed in a realistic and timely manner.
    • First point of contact for all project requests, and responsible for setting plans in motion for projects to be completed.
    • Inputs all Marketing projects in online management tool (Hive). Assigns project tasks and communicates project details to appropriate staff members.
    • Serves as main liaison with the enrollment to ensure that all enrollment marketing pieces are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates bulk stationery orders, name tag orders, and manages invoices for those vendors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the related field.
  • Thorough understanding of marketing, specifically for higher education (and/or willingness to learn).
  • Detail-oriented with good follow-through and ability to work autonomously.
  • Global/futuristic thinker who can see the big picture and forecast future goals.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-player who enjoys working as part of a dynamic team, building on each other's skills.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative, resourceful, flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Strong working knowledge of printing, publishing and graphic design.
  • Proven command of the English language with strong editorial, grammatical and writing skills/techniques.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel) and PhotoShop
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign) preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices for posting on all social platforms
