We are seeking aContamination Control Engineerto perform thePrecision Cleaningof spaceflight hardware, ensuring it meets contamination requirements to enable mission success. As a member of KBR's contamination control team in Laurel, Maryland, you will join a community of uniquely diverse professionals focused on the planning, inspection, cleaning, and testing hardware for spaceflight endeavors.

As a Contamination Control Engineer / Precision Clean professional, you will contribute to a range of contamination control activities, including:

  • Physical hands-on cleaning, aqueous degreasing and solvent flushing
  • Conducting outgassing and material analysis
  • Verifying cleanliness through particulate counts, non-volative residue and black light (UV) inspection
  • Providing support and guidance to precision cleaning, inspection, and verification processes to meet mission goals
  • Reviewing contamination control plans
  • Outlining cleanliness standards and verifying results

Required:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related science/engineering field
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in Contamination Engineering, including working in a cleanroom environment
  • Have experience performing precision cleaning, inspection, and verification processes on spaceflight hardware
  • Have experience precision cleaning hardware with solvents and surfactants on spacecraft materials including metals, composites and polymers with varying surface finishes
  • Have the ability to work occasional overtime or extended shift work, as well as occasional travel

Preferred:

  • Have at least a Master 's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related science/engineering field
  • Have experience with vacuum testing procedures such as MSFC-SPEC-1238, ASTM 595 and ASTM 1559
  • Have experience in particulate and molecular sampling for analysis in accordance with industry standards such as IEST-STDCC1246E
  • Are familiar with ISO-14644 cleanroom certifications standards
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in Contamination Engineering, including experience with space flight hardware
  • Possess expertise in performing contamination transport analysis and modelling

Special Working Conditions:
On Site Core Hours 9am-3pm
Ability to lift 40lbs

Basic Compensation:

$35.00/hr. - $70.19/hr.

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
