What is a container?

Container jobs typically refer to positions involved in the management, operation, and logistics of shipping containers used for transporting goods. These roles can include handling container loading and unloading at ports, coordinating container shipments, maintaining container inventory, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of containers. Workers in this field may be employed by shipping companies, logistics firms, or port authorities. The job often requires knowledge of safety regulations, equipment operation, and supply chain logistics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a container operator?

To thrive as a Container Operator, you need a solid understanding of logistics, inventory management, and safe container handling, often supported by specialized training or certifications such as forklift or crane operation. Familiarity with inventory tracking systems, warehouse management software, and standard safety protocols is typically required. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and effective teamwork are valuable soft skills in this field. These competencies ensure efficient, safe, and accurate handling of goods, which is critical for smooth supply chain operations.

What are some of the main challenges faced by professionals working in container shipping and logistics roles?

One of the primary challenges in container shipping and logistics is ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods across global supply chains, which often involves coordinating with multiple stakeholders such as shippers, port authorities, customs, and trucking companies. Unexpected delays due to weather, port congestion, or regulatory changes can disrupt schedules and require quick problem-solving. Additionally, professionals must stay updated on compliance requirements and emerging technologies, such as automation and digital tracking, to maintain operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Job description

About the Role:

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack - from electrons to tokens - to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that - with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved - people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • Grow and develop your team. Coach a team of experienced engineers and help each person expand their scope, impact, and career.

  • Run a high-performing team. Set the tone for how the team works together, set a high standard, and build an environment where engineers do their best work.

  • Own delivery. Plan and prioritize your team's work, set clear and ambitious goals, and be accountable for shipping them.

  • Set the technical direction for your area. Stay close enough to the work to lead it well: ask the hard questions, hold the bar on quality and reliability, and make sound tradeoff calls alongside your engineers.

  • Shape the team over time. Raise the level of the team through hiring, interviewing, and thoughtful onboarding. As the team grows, shape its structure and roadmap to match where it's headed.

  • Collaborate across functions. Partner with product, platform teams, peer managers, and leadership to align on priorities and represent your team's work clearly across the org.

  • Own operational health. Make sure the team has all the processes in place to succeed.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • You care about people. You want the engineers around you to grow, you give feedback that's both direct and kind, and you measure your own success through your team's.

  • Technical depth. You have at least 4 years building software as an engineer, and you can navigate design and architecture decisions with confidence.

  • Experience leading engineers. You've managed or led a team before, or you've been an informal lead ready to step fully into the role. We care more that you've helped engineers do their best work than about a title.

  • A track record of shipping. You've routinely delivered complex projects, and you have the judgment to keep a team focused and moving when problems are ambiguous and the stakes are high.

  • Strong communication and judgment. You can align people across functions, explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners alike, and give your team clarity about what matters and why.

We know great engineers come from many different paths. If you're excited about this work but don't match every point below, we'd still love to hear from you. What you've built and how you think matters more to us than a perfect checklist.

Bonus Points
  • Experience managing or scaling a team through growth

  • Familiarity with the OCI image and distribution specs

  • Experience building container registry products

  • Experience with storage or caching systems at scale

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off

  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance

  • Daily meals allowance

  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $215,000 -$260,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
