Yard Supervisor 


About Us: Southwest Mobile Storage specializes in modifying storage containers for sale or lease. We take pride in our ability to provide high-quality, customized portable storage solutions while delivering outstanding customer service. We are seeking a reliable Yard Supervisor to join our Long Beach branch. As a Yard Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily yard operations, inventory organization, equipment movement, operational workflow, safety compliance, and yard personnel management. This role supports operational readiness, branch productivity, inventory accuracy, and safe yard operations aligned with company standards


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily yard operations including inventory staging, loading, unloading, container placement, and operational workflow coordination.
  • Supervise yard personnel, Yard Leads, and operational support employees.
  • Coordinate yard priorities, equipment movement, inventory organization, and operational schedules.
  • Inspect containers, equipment, and yard inventory for operational readiness and safety compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, OSHA standards, and operational policies.
  • Operate and oversee forklifts, yard equipment, and operational machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, drivers, operations, shop personnel, and management regarding operational needs and workflow priorities.
  • Monitor inventory tracking, yard reporting, operational documentation, and equipment accountability.
  • Support employee training, onboarding, coaching, and performance accountability.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe yard operations.
  • Report operational concerns, equipment issues, and safety matters to management.


Physical Requirements: 

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and physical movement throughout shift
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to forklifts, operational equipment, containers, machinery, and outdoor operational environments


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of yard, warehouse, logistics, or operational experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification or operational equipment experience required.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and yard operations is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills required.
