Tax Intern Needed – Paid Internship!

Location: South Jordan, Utah (In-Office)
Duration: 12–15 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Flexible hours (at least 20 hrs/week)

The Financial Control (FINCON) team is responsible for all accounting and tax activities of several North American business entities within multiple industries including ocean carrier agency, trucking, intermodal/rail, and real estate. We maintain and develop accounting principles, practices, and procedures in alignment with headquarters to ensure accurate and timely financial statements to external stakeholders and internal reporting to corporate management, as well as to stay in compliance with regulations.

Scope of Responsibility:

The intern will support the Financial Control teams in collecting and organizing multi‑jurisdictional tax documentation, including federal, state/provincial, and local requirements for the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

  • Compiling tax support schedules and documentation packages
  • Retrieving supporting information from internal departments
  • Assisting in preparations of preliminary workpapers for U.S., Canadian, Mexican, and Costa Rican tax returns
  • Maintaining tracking logs for filing deadlines and deliverables
  • Assisting with intercompany transaction documentation
  • Supporting audit requests from IRS, CRA, SAT (Mexico), and the Costa Rica tax authority

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • Skills in MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Basic understanding of accounting and taxation principles
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
