Job description

Hood Container Corporation is seeking an On-Site Structural Designer to join our Design Center in Ridgefield Park, NJ. This Designer will support the corrugated converting operations at one of the fastest-growing corrugated manufacturers in the U.S! The Designer will work collaboratively with sales, operations, and Fortune 500 clients to create retail packaging & display designs, prototypes, and support documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize & utilize Artios CAD to produce retail displays, graphic packaging, and industrial packaging
  • Create supporting documents including design specifications, artwork die lines, sell sheets and pack out instructions
  • Create color mock-ups or white samples for customer approval,
  • Develop internal set up and in-store instruction sheets for displays / retail packaging to support successful client execution
  • Ideal Candidate to be detail oriented, self-starter, team player with solid communication skills, excellent time management, and proactive solution finder
  • Candidate to interface with sales, clients and creative teams on design-related meetings and presentations as needed
  • Candidate to be cross trained and interact among Hood design network at large
  • Maintain design supplies for job functions: mock-ups, mylars, samples, etc.
  • Proximity to office a plus due to nature of business activities

Experience

  • Two to six years of experience in structural, graphic, or pre-press design
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, Artios CAD, and Impact CAD
  • Experience with 3D Modeling/Solidworks/Blender preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft O365, including Outlook, Word, & PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with ISTA, ASTM, or other packaging test standards
  • Experience working in the corrugated / packaging / advertising industry is preferred
  • Experience using AI Tools and agentic workflows preferred
  • Onsite training for all skillsets additionally available

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics, Packaging Science, Industrial Design, or equivalent
