Job description

Job Description:

WQ Mount Sterling is looking for an experienced Industrial Band Saw operator. You will be joining a skilled manufacturing Team working in the Garbage Truck/Container industry. This role will involve setting up and operating our Mid-Sized Band Saw we use to cut Steel Tube, Aluminum/Steel Flat Bar as well as several different Plastics for our machining department. You will be responsible for changing blades on the machine, ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the machining process.

Hourly Pay: $22.75/hr + $2/hr shift differential for being on 2nd
Key Responsibilities

  • Saw Operation: Sets up machine by retrieving the correct material the print has called for then cutting to the specified lengths.
  • Material Handling: Unloads parts as they are cut and stacks onto pallets as well as recording and scraping out ends that are unusable. Cleans and deburrs all cut pats.
  • Multi-Tasking:
    • Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking material thickness and dimensions of part per blueprint using calipers, tape measure and/or calculator.
    • Cleans Saw and may perform minor preventive maintenance such as checking coolant levels, hydraulic oil levels and maintaining the blade.
    • Completes all production paperwork required.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

Key Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years' operating and setting up Sawa
  • Ability to use measuring devices Ruler, Caliper, as well as read and understand basic prints
  • Must be able to work by alone as well as in a Team setting
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
