Bulk Loader
This person will load chemicals into or from tanks, trailers, rail cars or other various containers. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • At all times, follows proper procedures for the loading or onloading of chemicals.
  • Uses requisite Personal Protective Equipment at all appropriate times.
  • Pumps liquid chemicals, liquid petroleum products, and other liquids into or from tank cars, trucks, or barges.
  • Verifies tank car numbers with loading instructions for making sure accurate placement of cars by crew.
  • Connects ground cable to carry off static electricity.
  • Removes and/or replaces dome caps, using wrenches or other appropriate tool(s).
  • Inspects interior for cleanliness and exterior for leaks and/or damage.
  • Swings loading spout over dome turns valve to admit liquids to tank.
  • Lowers gauge rod into tank or reads meter to verify specified volume of liquids loaded.
  • Lowers sample bottle into tank for laboratory testing.
  • Seals outlet valves on car.
  • When unloading cars, connects hose to outlet plugs on cars attaches special dome, using wrenches.
  • Starts pumps or turns valves to admit compressed air into tank car force liquids into storage tanks.
  • May test sample for specific gravity, using hydrometer, and record reading on loading slip.
  • May clean interior of tank cars or tank trucks, using mechanical spray nozzle.
  • May inspect rupture disc, vacuum relief valve, rubber gaskets on valve cover plates, and replace defective parts using wrenches.
  • May pump nitrogen or compressed air into car to test for leaks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education - no minimum education requirements. PTEC degree preferred.
Certifications/License's: A valid TWIC Card and Driver's License.
Experience - 1+years' experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
