Job description

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Forklift Operator - Night Shift at our Wellsville, PA location. The Forklift Operator safely and efficiently transports materials using the forklift, which is a powered industrial truck equipped with forks or a platform for lifting and carrying heavy objects.

This position works a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on rotating days and weekends. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, extrusions, or logs and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Loads and unloads trucks as required.
  • Empties trash containers as needed.
  • Places empty baskets on wheels for saw crews.
  • Empties scrap hoppers, separating alloy 6061 from 6063 as directed.
  • Loads and unloads heat treat ovens and moves metal to next department or area.
  • Follows proper procedures, starts Age Ovens selecting proper cycles.  Completes documentation and charts as required.
  • Monitors Age Cycles periodically to assure proper operation.
  • Ensures forklift is maintained in a safe working order.  Reports defects or problems to shift supervisor.  Completes preventive maintenance and corresponding paperwork as directed.
  • Replaces propane bottle refueling forklift as required.  Places empty bottle in proper storage area.
  • Assists with maintaining a neat and orderly plant, insuring aisleways are kept clear.  Performs general housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.

Experience

  • One or more years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Must attend and pass Forklift Operators Safety course.
  • Must possess a valid Forklift License.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must have regular attendance.

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
