Location: Savannah, GA
Reports To: Terminal Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $24-$26/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Two full-time shifts available
  • Shift 1: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday
  • Shift 2: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Job Summary
Cargomatic is seeking experienced Port Dispatchers to support high-volume drayage operations in Savannah. This role is responsible for daily dispatch execution, driver coordination, container and chassis management, and issue resolution in a fast-paced port environment. We are seeking candidates with extensive experience in port and drayage operations, strong communication skills for effectively coordinating with drivers and carriers, and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and dispatch owner-operators, company drivers, and third-party carriers hauling under Cargomatic's SCAC code.
  • Plan and assign loads based on driver availability, equipment capacity, and operational priority.
  • Maintain consistent communication with drivers regarding assignments, schedules, changes, and performance expectations.
  • Assess driver, tractor, chassis, and container capability for each requested haul.
  • Track and trace shipments, proactively identifying and resolving delays, exceptions, or operational issues.
  • Manage empty container inventory, including returns and repositioning.
  • Enter, update, and close orders accurately and on time in Cargomatic's proprietary TMS.
  • Validate Proof of Delivery (POD), interchange documents, and other required paperwork.
  • Identify and apply accessorial charges to ensure full revenue capture.
  • Provide professional, responsive service to drivers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and perform additional operational or administrative duties as needed.

Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of port/drayage dispatch experience.
  • In-depth understanding of port operations, supply chain logistics, and dispatch optimization strategies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high volume of daily moves.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to resolve issues quickly and professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
  • Comfortable working in dispatch/TMS software and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
