Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center is a comprehensive community mental health center established in 1965. We provide services in five rural counties, Fillmore, Houston, Wabasha, Goodhue and Winona.
CLINICAL INTERNSHIP/PRACTICUM PLACEMENTS
Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) offers clinical internship/practicum placements for students in Master of Social Work programs and Clinical Counseling Master's programs on an annual basis. HVMHC has several staff recognized by the MN Board of Social Work and the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as clinical supervisors.
The following opportunities to learn and practice are provided by HVMHC to clinical students with child and/or adult clients:
  • Comprehensive Evaluations
  • Integrated Treatment Planning
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • Electronic health record system/clinical documentation
  • Supervision focused on building reflective capacity

Clinical students have the opportunity to practice within an outpatient setting and/or with our School Linked Behavioral Health program in the schools, in the home, and in the community.
