Job description

Position Description: Overview:
The Consumer lender is responsible for overseeing loan approvals/denials, loan products, rate structures and underwriting requirements for consumer lending.
Responsibilities and Results:
• Review loan requests; approvals/denials.
• Works with customers to understand their lending needs and explain loan options.
• Advise on compliance and documentation issues.
• Prepares files for closing.
• Ensures that all Bank policies and procedures are in place and followed.
• Negotiates rates and terms with customers.
• Analyze current market rates and products.
• Develop new products or terms for new and existing loans and recommend changes if necessary.
• Work with Branch Officers on loan policies, documentation and requests.
• Participates in business development activities to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, realtors, and other referral sources.
• May work in processing and closing mortgage, HELOC and installment loans.
• Supports the Bank’s BSA/AML compliance efforts by remaining alert to unusual or suspicious activity and adhering to related policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
• Delegate work to Consumer and Mortgage Loan Processors.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field preferred or 5+ years of related experience required.
Work Experience:
• 4-6 years of experience in a finance or accounting role required.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel and various other programs is required.
• Supervisory experience and good working knowledge of the functions and operations of lending.
• Ability to collaborate with other departments and all levels of associates.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage sensitive situations and confidential data.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with others are expected.
• Ability to identify, assist with and resolve routine problems.
Other Job Responsibilities:
• Must be able to keep all sensitive information confidential.
• Speed and accurate use of computer, calculator and other business machines is required.
• Willingness to assume new responsibilities, ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing and possibly stressful environment is expected.
• Working hours may vary. May be required to attend various bank functions after hours. Occasional travel with personal vehicle may be required.
• On time attendance is expected.
Working Conditions:
• Generally good with some exposure to noise, heat, dust or other adverse factors.
• Climbing of stairs and some lifting of heavy items.
• A high amount of pressure to work efficiently, accurately and maintain good employee and customer relations.
• Considerable effort and eye strain from computer work and continued checking of all detail work in the department.
