Job Description

The Director, Workday Consulting is a senior-level Workday leader with responsibility for platform strategy, configuration, integrations, and team delivery across Workday HCM and Financials. This role serves as the architectural authority for Workday, leads a high-performing support team, and partners with stakeholders to drive scalable, compliant, and optimized enterprise solutions. 

**Workday HCM Certification is a must have for the role*

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide project and team oversight of Workday HCM (Core HCM, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, Recruiting) and Financials/FDM modules (GL, AP, AR, Assets, Expenses, Procurement, Projects/Grants, Reporting) for all active projects.
  • Act as the Workday architectural expert, advising on system design, configuration strategy, security, and cross-module impacts.
  • Lead and develop a team of Workday Specialists and analysts; ensure project health, performance monitoring, and timely delivery.
  • Configure and optimize Workday business processes, calculations, validations, integrations, and organizational structures for clients.
  • Oversee integrations, EIBs, reporting, audits, data validation, and error resolution.
  • Lead Workday-related projects end to end, including new modules, enhancements, and upgrades; facilitate stakeholder workshops and communications.

Service Delivery Expertise

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team in the delivery of technical and functional consulting expertise, effectively managing team and individual performance.
  • Initiate and focus team efforts to gather and analyze data to formulate best-practice recommendations specific to client needs.
  • Effectively managing projects and the client engagement, achieving project results based upon the agreed upon SOW.
  • Collaborate with Sales to create project resource plans, deliverables, and timelines to meet client needs, managing multiple clients.
  • Measure project progress with a focus on project deliverables, providing solutions for complex situations ensuring timely and on budget results.
  • Solicit client feedback on project team performance, making adjustments in support of measurable, continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

Education:

  • Workday HCM Core Certification (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field strongly preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of progressive enterprise Workday experience, including administration, governance, and cross-functional ownership.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role managing teams or complex initiatives.
  • Experience with data modeling, data architecture, entity relationships, transformation logic, and ETL concepts.
  • Proven success leading complex Workday implementations, enhancements, or enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Experience in a consulting environment and/or internal Workday support organization.

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge of Workday configuration, security frameworks, integrations, and business process governance.
  • Strong understanding of Workday HCM and Financials architecture, reporting, and analytics.
  • Experience developing report strategies, dashboards, and analytics frameworks.
  • Oversight of integrations, including EIB and interface governance.
  • Ability to align business and technical requirements at an enterprise level.
  • Experience working with AMS providers and Workday to resolve issues and maximize platform value.

Certifications

  • Workday HCM Core Certification (required).
  • Additional Workday module certifications desired.

  • Understanding of the full life cycle of project/program execution following established project management methodology.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of talent acquisition platforms, tools, products, and other complimentary technologies to support these platforms.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in a variety of workstreams (change management, risk assessment, compliance, sponsorship modeling, user acceptance testing, end-to-end testing, end user training, communications, resistance management, launch planning, and configuration).
  • Commercially astute.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Smartsheet, Lucidchart, and other related software.
