Een Program Manager beheert een set gerelateerde projecten die nodig zijn om een zakelijk doel te bereiken. De Program Manager zorgt ervoor dat de doelstellingen van het programma worden gehaald door een overkoepelende besluitvormingscapaciteit te bieden die niet op projectniveau kan worden bereikt.
De Program Manager zorgt ervoor dat het programma op tijd en binnen budget wordt afgerond, dat de doelstellingen worden gehaald en dat de verschillende betrokken belangen worden bevredigd.
- Afstemmen van programma-objectieven met management en stakeholders
- Vertegenwoordigen van de belangen van de klant en de organisatie
- Monitoren van de voortgang van de projecten binnen het programma
- Voorzien van een programmaperspectief aan de betrokken projectmanagers (doel en status)
- Dienen als klankbord voor ideeën en benaderingen om projectproblemen met programma-impact op te lossen
- Identificeren en beheren van cross-project afhankelijkheden
