Consulting Creative Director information

What is a consulting creative director?

A Consulting Creative Director is an experienced creative professional who provides strategic, high-level guidance to organizations on branding, design, and creative direction, usually on a contract or project basis. Unlike full-time Creative Directors, consulting roles are more flexible and focus on advising teams, shaping creative strategies, and ensuring brand consistency without being embedded in the daily operations. They often work with companies seeking fresh perspectives, brand reinventions, or help with major campaigns.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a consulting creative director?

To thrive as a Consulting Creative Director, you need a robust background in creative strategy, visual design, and brand development, often supported by a degree in design, marketing, or a related field. Mastery of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello are commonly expected. Exceptional leadership, communication, and client management skills help you inspire teams and align creative vision with business goals. These competencies are crucial for delivering innovative solutions that drive brand success and meet client objectives.

How does a consulting creative director typically collaborate with in-house teams and external clients?

A Consulting Creative Director often serves as a bridge between an organization's internal creative team and external clients or stakeholders. They are responsible for aligning creative strategies with business objectives, providing guidance and feedback to in-house designers, writers, and other creatives, and ensuring that project deliverables meet client expectations. This role requires strong communication skills, as it involves frequent meetings, presentations, and collaborative brainstorming sessions. Successfully managing these relationships is key to delivering innovative solutions while maintaining workflow efficiency and project timelines.

Overview
About Us:
Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $3.9B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
**This is a hybrid position based out of our Reston, VA headquarters**
What You'll Do:
  • As the company continues to grow and evolve, we are seeking a senior HR leader to own and strengthen the Total Rewards function - spanning compensation, benefits, executive pay, and equity administration.
This is a role for a leader who is equally comfortable shaping strategy and rolling up their sleeves to execute. The executive will assess current programs, identify where they need to evolve to better align with business objectives, and lead the work to get there - in close partnership with the CHRO, executive leadership, and Finance.
  • Reporting to the CHRO, the Executive Director, Total Rewards will serve as a key leader on the HR senior team. The incumbent will be responsible for setting and executing the company's total rewards strategy in a way that attracts, retains, and motivates talent in direct support of business goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Design:
  • Develop and implement total rewards strategies covering incentive design, and benefit plans across the enterprise.
  • Establish a clear total rewards philosophy that aligns with business objectives that can scale as the company grows.
  • Lead the redesign and harmonization of compensation structures to support internal equity, market competitiveness, and consistency across business units.
  • Oversee equity administration and executive compensation programs, including support to the CHRO in working with the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.

Leadership & Operations:
  • Lead and develop the Total Rewards team, building the right capabilities and capacity to deliver effectively.
  • Build and execute process and systems roadmaps to improve efficiency and consistency in how Total Rewards is delivered across the business.
  • Manage relationships with external compensation and benefits consultants to ensure the company is drawing on best-in-class market data and expertise.

Partnership & Influence:
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on Total Rewards to the business, including the CHRO, CEO, and broader executive leadership team.
  • Partner closely with Finance to ensure total rewards programs are designed with cost discipline and aligned to financial objectives.
  • Influence senior leaders across the organization through clear data, well-structured recommendations, and a credible point of view.
  • Consult with business leaders to ensure rewards programs support workforce needs across a complex, global, government contracting environment.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent.

Certifications/Licenses:
  • Current or past CCP or equivalent certification and/or training.

Experience:
  • 15 (fifteen) years in total rewards with 5+ (five) years being in senior leadership roles, with progressive responsibility in Total Rewards design and delivery.
  • Experience in publicly traded, global companies with large-scale corporate structures, including government contracting environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading job architecture and compensation structure work across complex, multi-entity organizations.
  • Track record of influencing and advising senior leadership, including CHRO, CEO, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience managing external compensation and benefits consultants.
  • Strong project management and change leadership skills, with the ability to drive work across multiple functions simultaneously and effectively.
  • Experience with FAR requirements

Desired Qualifications:
  • M&A experience including due diligence through integration.

Other Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to travel as required by the business (5-10%)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to work from our Reston, VA headquarters a few days/week

Skills:
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills - comfortable with data and able to translate it into clear recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including at the executive and Board level.
  • Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of HR operations and Finance.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What We Bring:
  • At V2X we strive to be market competitive in our total reward offerings.
  • The successful candidate's starting pay will be based on, but not limited to, their job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
  • The following salary range is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
    • USD $ 250,000 - 300,000
  • Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.
  • Please speak with a recruiter for additional information.
  • Employee benefits include the following:
    • Healthcare coverage
    • Life insurance, AD&D, and disability benefits
    • Retirement plan
    • Wellness programs
    • Paid time off, including holidays
    • Learning and Development resources
    • Employee assistance resources
  • Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefit plans.

At V2X, we are deeply committed to both equal employment opportunity, including protection for Veterans and individuals with disabilities, and fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We ensure all individuals are treated with fairness, respect, and dignity, recognizing the strength that comes from a workforce rich in diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills.
