What is a consultant endodontist?

A Consultant Endodontist is a highly specialized dental professional who focuses on diagnosing and treating issues related to the dental pulp and roots. They perform advanced root canal treatments, manage complex cases, and help save teeth that might otherwise need extraction. In addition to clinical work, they may also be involved in teaching, research, and training other dental professionals. Their expertise ensures that patients receive the highest level of care for endodontic problems.

What does a consultant endodontist do?

As a Consultant Endodontist, your daily responsibilities usually include diagnosing and managing complex endodontic cases, performing root canal treatments and surgical procedures, and reviewing patient histories. You may also provide second-opinion consultations to referring dentists and mentor junior dental staff or trainees as part of a multidisciplinary team. Maintaining comprehensive patient records, participating in case discussions, and sometimes contributing to clinical audits or research projects are also common. The role is dynamic and often involves careful coordination with general dentists and other dental specialists to achieve the best patient care.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a consultant endodontist?

To excel as a Consultant Endodontist, you must possess advanced clinical expertise in diagnosis and treatment of dental pulp and root canal conditions, typically supported by a specialty degree in endodontics and relevant board certification. Mastery of dental operating microscopes, digital radiography, and endodontic rotary instrumentation is commonly required, along with current licensure. Strong interpersonal communication, decisive problem-solving, and a patient-centered approach distinguish top professionals in this field. These abilities ensure precise, safe procedures and effective collaboration within multidisciplinary dental teams for optimal patient outcomes.

Today Dental is a well-established, privately owned dental group serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We are seeking an experienced, highly productive Endodontist to join our team for approximately 4-6 days per month, with the opportunity to add days as demand grows.

Our internal referral network already supports productive specialty days, typically scheduling approximately 4-8 root canal cases per day, depending on case complexity and treatment needs.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Established internal referral base with approximately 4-8 root canal cases per clinical day
  • Fee-for-service patient base
  • Experienced clinical and administrative support
  • Medical, vision, and life insurance
  • Dental and orthodontic benefits for employees and their families
  • Flexible part-time schedule with the opportunity to add days

Why Join Today Dental?

  • Strong case flow: Our network of general dentists provides a consistent pipeline of appropriate endodontic referrals and consultations.
  • Excellent earning potential: A high percentage of adjusted production combined with established patient volume rewards an efficient, productive Endodontist.
  • Clinical autonomy: You maintain control over diagnosis and treatment while our team handles scheduling, referrals, and operational support.
  • Efficient specialty days: Cases and consultations are coordinated to help you make productive use of your clinical time.
  • Privately owned environment: Practice with greater flexibility and fewer corporate restrictions.
  • Professional culture: We prioritize communication, accountability, mutual respect, and a drama-free workplace.
  • Long-term growth: Begin with 4-6 days per month and expand your schedule based on demand and mutual availability.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a comprehensive range of endodontic conditions
  • Perform root canal therapy, including molar endodontics, retreatments, and surgical procedures within your clinical scope
  • Evaluate consultations and communicate treatment recommendations clearly
  • Collaborate with referring general dentists to provide coordinated patient care
  • Return patients to their referring dentist following specialty treatment
  • Deliver efficient, patient-centered treatment without compromising clinical quality
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation on the date of service
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics and professionalism

Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
  • Completion of an accredited advanced education program in Endodontics
  • Active Texas dental license or eligibility for Texas licensure
  • Experience managing a productive endodontic schedule
  • Strong proficiency in molar root canal therapy and complex endodontic treatment
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Board certification or board eligibility preferred

The Right Fit

The ideal candidate is an experienced Endodontist who works efficiently without compromising quality, communicates well with referring doctors, and values the flexibility and autonomy of private practice.

If you are looking for an established referral base, excellent earning potential, and a supportive team committed to helping you succeed, we would welcome the opportunity to meet you.
