Concrete Estimator

This role is located in Tonganoxie, Kansas (Kansas City Metro area).

Crookham Construction is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and eager Concrete Estimator. This pivotal role is perfect for an individual ready to provide precise cost analysis and budgeting for complex commercial concrete projects. This is a Full-Time position and requires the successful candidate to work onsite, emphasizing the hands-on nature of the role, as this is Not a Remote or hybrid Job.

As a Concrete Estimator at Crookham Construction, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate project costing and financial planning. You will assist in the estimation process by reviewing blueprints and project specifications, gathering cost data, and preparing estimates under the guidance of senior estimators. You will also coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to collect pricing information and ensure accurate cost analysis. Your expertise in concrete materials, labor costs, and industry trends will drive efficient and cost-effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project documents, plans, and specifications to understand project scope, requirements, and client expectations.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimations for concrete materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services based on project specifications and industry standards.
  • Solicit and review subcontractor bids and proposals and incorporate subcontractor costs into project estimates.
  • Analyze project risks and opportunities and develop strategies to optimize project costs and profitability.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify project requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accuracy in project estimates.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages to clients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project discussions to gather information and insights that impact project estimates.
  • Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to stay informed of market conditions and adjust estimates accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role in concrete construction, with a strong background in estimating and bidding on commercial and industrial projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of concrete construction techniques, materials, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, RSMeans, ProEst) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents and perform accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, Vendors and clients.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating and proposal development.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
