Job description

We are currently looking for a Commercial Construction Superintendent to join our amazing team at Petersen Brothers Construction. The Superintendent is responsible for leading field operations, including direct supervision of crews, coordination of subcontractors, and day-to-day sequencing of work. While responsibilities can be delegated to foremen or lead personnel, this must not reduce the Superintendent's full ownership of field execution and schedule performance.
Through constant presence in the field and proactive coordination, the Superintendent has the greatest influence on maintaining production progress in alignment with the project's schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Field Leadership
    • Lead all on-site construction activities
    • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff
    • Maintain a strong field presence with clear direction and accountability
  • Schedule Ownership
    • Execute the CPM schedule and maintain milestone dates
    • Develop and manage 4-12-week lookahead schedules
    • Identify risks early and implement recovery plans as needed
  • Production & Quality
    • Ensure consistent progress aligned with project schedule
    • Enforce PBC's "No Redo's" quality standard
    • Verify work meets plans, specs, and code requirements
  • Coordination & Problem Solving
    • Lead daily trade coordination and resolve field conflicts
    • Proactively address issues that impact production
    • Support formal documentation and notices when required
  • Communication & Meetings
    • Lead or participate in OAC and subcontractor meetings
    • Provide clear, consistent updates to the Project Manager
    • Ensure all documentation is accurate and professional
  • Financial Awareness
    • Track field progress against percent complete
    • Identify scope changes and potential cost impacts
    • Support accurate billing and minimize scope gaps
  • Documentation
    • Maintain complete and accurate records in Procore (daily logs, photos, inspections)
    • Ensure compliance with PBC document standards

  • Previous commercial construction experience (required)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Procore
  • Dispute Resolution - Financial and Job Cost Accounting Knowledge - Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people in a collaborative nature to achieve maximum efficiency.
