We also have extensive experience in fields such as civil, structural, process mechanical, building mechanical, electrical and instrumentation work. NAC is currently seeking a Carpenter to join our Water Treatment Facility Upgrade project in Brandon, MB.ย 

Position Summary:ย 
ย 
Under the direction of Civil Superintendent the Civil Carpenter is responsible for building, restoring and/or installing of structural formwork, concrete, wood and related materials.ย This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry, specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety associated with this industry.ย The Civil Carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks:ย layouts, constructing and installing building materials, reading blueprints, and must possess mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.
Job Description:
  • Build, layout and execute forms as required, according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades
  • Layout building foundations and install piling, floors and walls
  • Layout, construct and install beams and shoring
  • Construct chutes, forms and align form panels for pouring concrete
  • Fill form with concrete material, compact with tamper/compactor to required grade
  • Construct and frame deck, floor, stairs, wall, ceiling and roof systems
  • Perform interior and exterior renovations, as per specifications
  • Build trestles, bridges, towers and other structures
  • Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
  • Respect and respond to direction given
  • Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System
  • Construct and/or assemble and dismantle scaffolding as needed
  • Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed
  • Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitation
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience working in heavy construction
  • Experience with concrete formwork (gang systems. Dolka an asset) and stick building formwork (wood forms)
  • Experience with concrete placement
  • Water retaining structures construction experience
  • Experience building bulkheads
  • Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of carpentry tools
  • Ability to read building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
  • Experience building bulkheads
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Heavy lifting required
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Time management skills
  • Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, Workingย at Heights/Fall Arrest certificates are required
  • Zoom boom / skid steer experience required
