Overview

William Charles Electric, a MasTec Company, is currently hiring for a Superintendent to support our assigned renewables and power delivery projects.

The Superintendent will be responsible for the on-site management of high voltage projects including transmission & distribution, substation and data centers. The position will report concentrate on field coordination and production, safety, and quality compliance. 

Travel & Project Assignment: You can live in any city or state in the continental United States. This is an on-site position which may encompass a work site primarily in the Midwest, but may include Eastern and Western states. Must be capable of working on-site for 3 weeks with a four-day rotation. We offer designated per diem of $1,020 per week in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel rotation. You must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided for the assigned work location.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Operations Manager daily.
  • Review project drawings and do a material takeoff to ensure an accurate BOM.
  • Meet with the local IBEW to discuss the project and manpower requirements.
  • Determine equipment needs and coordinate with fleet to schedule delivery.
  • Walkdown the project prior to construction for site layout.
  • Oversee site construction from below grade work through completion.
  • Ensure all safety and quality requirements are followed by performing observations and immediately addressing any deviations.
  • Mentor crew members.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to confirm they are on schedule and following site policies.
  • Attend project meetings and report as required.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, crew and back-office personnel.
  • Assist Project Manager with change orders.
  • Layout and maintain a 3-week look-ahead schedule.
  • Provide work tasks and job progression for the Plan of the Day (POD).
  • Update overall schedule as the job progresses.
  • Coordinate with Testing group prior to commissioning.
  • Ensure any punch-list items are addressed to the Owner’s satisfaction.
  • Red-line drawings to reflect as-built conditions.
  • Review and approve General Foreman timecards in Heavy Bid.
  • Safety planning for all field operations and activities along a busy road right away, rock boring, environmental hazards, and fire hazards.
  • Personnel management, including setting production goals, safety goals and quality goals.
  • Identify resources needed, including personnel and equipment for job sites.
  • Manage and update the work schedule.
  • Contribute to the monthly cost to complete projects and advise the Project Manager.
  • Weekly quantities completed and accurately reported.
  • Review progress and performance weekly with the Project Manager.

Qualifications
  • Required to have 10 to 15+ years of experience with thorough knowledge of all aspects of substation construction.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or related field, preferred). A combination of education & experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • OSHA 30.

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company’s Zero Injury principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient with ProCore, MS Teams and MS office programs.
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, technical specifications and procedures, contracts or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports and document project activities.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers and superintendents.
