About this Role

NorthStar Energy Services is seeking a Surveyor to support construction activities across oil & gas, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for providing accurate field layout, staking, and measurement support to ensure construction activities are executed in alignment with project drawings, tolerances, and design intent.

The Surveyor will work closely with field crews, project management, and engineering teams to support civil, structural, mechanical, and underground installation activities. This is a field-based role requiring hands-on experience with surveying equipment and construction workflows.

Location: Field Based in West Texas

What You'll Do
  • Perform construction surveying activities including layout, staking, grade verification, and as-built data collection
  • Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control points for project sites
  • Support civil, structural, mechanical, and underground installation activities by providing accurate field measurements
  • Operate survey equipment such as total stations, GPS systems, and data collectors to capture and verify field data
  • Interpret construction drawings, site plans, and specifications to guide layout and execution
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field crews to ensure alignment with design requirements and tolerances
  • Conduct topographic checks and verify site conditions prior to and during construction
  • Prepare and maintain field notes, survey reports, and as-built documentation
  • Identify discrepancies between field conditions and design drawings and communicate findings to project teams
What You'll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in surveying or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in construction surveying, preferably within oil & gas, industrial, or infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency operating total stations and other surveying equipment (GPS, data collectors, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site layouts, and engineering plans
  • Strong understanding of construction tolerances, grading, and layout practices
  • Experience supporting civil, structural, mechanical, or underground installation activities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as required
