Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Construction & Remediation group is hiring a Quality Inspector/Technician for an upcoming project in Eastern Ontario.

The position is a full-time permanent position for a self-motivated, energetic and organized individual to support day-to-day quality operations on the project.

 The successful candidate will be capable of performing the following main job duties: 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the quality management system (QMS) is applied in the field as part of quality control processes
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Performs regular oversight over sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure adherence to the project quality requirements
  • Performs visual inspections for civil, structural, mechanical, incoming materials for meeting quality requirements
  • Understands, applies, and ensures compliance with technical specifications and drawings requirements
  • Conducts tests on soil using the nuclear gauge, and performs concrete testing as per ASTMs
  • Responsible for ensuring effective closure of field findings and project related issues as part of the continual improvement QMS support
  • Documents inspection results by completing inspection reports and logs
  • Provides support with maintaining Equipment Lists, Inspection and Test Plans up to date
  • Ensures the quality control documentation is compiled, reviewed, approved for use, and completed
  • Documents, and reports on quality issues
  • Quality interface/liaison with owner, owner's representatives, and 3rd party construction quality assurance agents   
Skills / Qualifications
  • Technician Diploma or similar, coupled with five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience in Quality within a construction or nuclear environment
  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • In depth knowledge and comprehension of quality standards (N299.2, ISO 9001)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the application of field quality control activities
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Strong Microsoft Applications experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Strong eye for details, reliable and commit
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility for out-of-town travel
  • Must be able to obtain Reliability Status Clearance, requires an applicant to have lived in Canada for the past three years - Additional security clearances will include, criminal record check, police check and credit check.
