Job description

Construction Design Technician

Job Summary:

The Construction Design Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the design team in creating accurate and high-quality construction design documents. Working under the guidance of a Construction Design Team Lead, the Technician assists with drafting, redline implementation, quality checks, and project documentation. This role provides foundational exposure to the OSP design process, offering an opportunity to develop technical skills, gain familiarity with permitting and entity requirements, and grow into higher-level positions within the department.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Draft and update construction design drawings under direction of the Construction Design Team Lead.
  • Apply redlines and corrections from OSP field staff, Construction Design Supervisors and/or Construction Design Team Leads.
  • Assist with basic quality checks to ensure accuracy and standards are met.
  • Upload and maintain project files in all required platforms and systems.
  • Support project documentation and utilize trackers as assigned.
  • Communicate with team members for clarifications on design updates.
  • Participate in training and develop knowledge of OSP design processes and tools.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with GIS tools preferred.
  • Ability to interpret constructive criticism and apply red line corrections accurately.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
