Senior Construction Specialist - Maple Grove, MN or Woodbury, MN
AE2S has an exciting opportunity a Senior Construction Services Specialist wanting to pursue a construction-related career with a consulting engineering firm. We are a fast-paced, team-oriented, and technologically advanced consulting firm. If you are seeking a forward-thinking culture and opportunity for advancement, AE2S is the right place for you. The Senior Construction Services Specialist will work with the project team to assist with construction observation of regional large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
  • Perform construction observation and administration on large, complex AE2S projects and anticipate potential problems take action to avoid and mitigate them.
  • Ensure appropriate communication between the Owner and Engineer to keep all parties updated on progress and quality of the project.
  • Work with Contractors to ensure the project document requirements, process, schedule, and related contractual obligations are understood by Contractors performing work for Owner.
  • Understand duties and responsibilities under Engineer's Agreement with the Owner, as well as the Contractor's Contract with the Owner for each project to ensure obligations and expectations are met.
  • Monitor and document Contractor's performance to ensure compliance with plan and specification requirements.
  • Understand and manage projects on budget, controls costs, and meets budget and coordinate Change Orders with the Project Manager.
  • Maintain and prepare appropriate files, reports, and records for documentation purposes including daily reports, tracking reports, photos, close out paperwork, and other information related to the project.
  • Attend meetings and follow up with other construction representatives and personnel related to scheduling, workforce, material delivery, change orders, RFI, start up, etc.
  • Represent AE2S in a highly professional and respectful manner at all times.
  • Regional travel and overnight stay required.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
  • Degree in construction engineering, construction management, or related field
  • 12+ years of construction experience or engineering based construction observation and administration experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel and work remotely for extended periods of time
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on pipeline, water, wastewater, or rural water projects
  • Working knowledge of GIS and GPS for use in collecting field data

Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles on uneven terrain.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 75 pounds.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs as well as moving the whole body such as running, maneuvering, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Drive and navigate vehicles or mechanized equipment including but not limited to all-terrain vehicles or watercraft.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and manipulate or move materials.
  • Service, repair, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune, or test machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic principles.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
