Job description

Commercial HVAC Installation Technician
Position Summary
Shoals MPE Construction is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Installation Technician to join our growing construction team. This position is responsible for the installation of HVAC systems and associated components on commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, installing ductwork and equipment, and working alongside project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to code.
This role is best suited for a motivated technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, maintains a strong safety mindset, and is committed to delivering exceptional results on every project.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install commercial HVAC systems including:
    • Rooftop units (RTUs)
    • Split systems
    • Heat pumps
    • Exhaust and ventilation systems
    • Make-up air systems
    • Package units
    • Mini-split systems
  • Install and assemble:
    • Ductwork
    • Diffusers and grilles
    • Refrigerant piping
    • Condensate drains
    • Equipment supports and hangers
  • Read and interpret:
    • Blueprints
    • Mechanical drawings
    • Specifications
    • Project plans
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, General Contractors, and other trades to maintain project schedules.
  • Ensure all installations meet local, state, and national mechanical codes.
  • Perform start-up assistance and system verification as required.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate installation progress.
  • Follow company safety policies and OSHA requirements at all times.
  • Operate company vehicles, lifts, power tools, and construction equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 3 years of HVAC installation experience.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC equipment and construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical plans.
  • Knowledge of HVAC installation practices and mechanical codes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, rooftops, and construction environments.
Preferred
  • EPA Certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Sheet metal fabrication and installation experience.
  • Refrigerant piping and brazing experience.
  • Experience with light commercial construction projects.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, or scissor lift certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, and elevated work platforms.
  • Ability to safely use power tools and construction equipment.
