Superintendent - Federal Construction

Location: Travel throughout the Southeastern United States and U.S. Territories

We are seeking a high-impact Federal Construction Superintendent with proven federal construction experience to lead onsite operations on mission-critical projects for our federal clients. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned field leader to manage all aspects of project execution, from startup through closeout, on complex USACE, NAVFAC, VA, and other federal contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all onsite field operations and maintain full accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance from startup through closeout.
  • Coordinate daily activities with the Project Manager and broader project team to ensure seamless execution.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, short-interval schedules, and the overall construction schedule.
  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, government representatives, and client stakeholders.
  • Organize and maintain current contract documents, drawings, specifications, federal submittals, and project records.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and deliveries to keep work flowing and milestones on track.
  • Ensure full compliance with project specifications, federal contract requirements, EM 385-1-1, and all company standards.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, RMS/QCS documentation, and comprehensive photo documentation.
  • Review and help resolve onsite RFIs, field conflicts, and construction issues in real time.
  • Coordinate project startup, commissioning, punch list, and closeout activities, including all federal closeout deliverables.
  • Coordinate inspections with Government representatives and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Champion a safety-first culture and enforce company safety policies and project-specific safety plans.
  • Perform or support Superintendent, Quality Control Manager (QCM), and Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) responsibilities on qualifying projects when required.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with owners, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years of commercial or federal construction experience preferred.
  • Prior experience serving as a Superintendent and/or Quality Control Manager on a federal project required.
  • Ability to pass federal background checks and obtain base access credentials as required.
  • Proven track record managing federal, military, municipal, healthcare, institutional, or other technically complex projects required.
  • USACE, NAVFAC, and/or Veterans Affairs project experience required.
  • Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 safety requirements preferred.
  • Quality Control Management (QCM) experience preferred; current QCM certification and/or SSHO qualifications preferred.
  • Experience serving in dual-role or triple-hat capacities as Superintendent, QCM, and SSHO preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, quality control, and field coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, RMS/QCS, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for projects throughout the Southeastern United States and U.S. Territories as required.
