MGC Contractors, Inc. is a 100% Employee Owned Corporation. We specialize in all forms of water and wastewater general contracting including Job Order Contracting, Construction Manager at Risk, Design-Bid-Build, and Design-Build throughout Arizona, Texas, Utah, and New Mexico.

MGC Contractors, Inc is looking for an experienced Safety Professional for our Texas Division in the Alamogordo NM area.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist in development and implementation of site-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing preventative measures to minimize future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with project management staff and site supervisors to integrate safety requirements into project planning and execution.
  • Train employees on safety protocols, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures, including new hire safety orientations.
  • Perform OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification training for applicable employees.
  • Maintain accurate records and safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Any and all other duties assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone. The ability to read printed materials, signs and directions. The stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time salaried position. Occasionally working extra hours may be required as job duties and schedule demand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or related field work preferred.
  • Valid UT Driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • At least Three (3) years of safety professional experience in a similar field.
  • OSHA 500/510 certification
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Proficient with ISNetworld preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written, and quick response time to inquiries.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
