Survey Crew Chief, Energy
Position Purpose:
The Survey Crew Chief may lead a 2-3 person team or work independently in the field. The crew chief will be responsible for efficiently completing the field work portion of survey projects (boundary surveying, topographical surveying, construction layout, reality capture projects, etc).
Essential Functions:
  • Operate technical survey equipment and surveying related software
  • Perform survey calculations necessary for field work
  • Perform underground utility locating
  • Perform scanning
  • Perform aerial drone flights
  • Perform construction staking
  • Prepare and edit surveying notes and reports
  • Interact with office staff, clients and the general public
  • Manage field crew members
  • Follow Company/Client safety procedures
Required Traits amp; Characteristics:
  • Exercise discretion and judgement in all work tasks
  • Ability to plan, schedule work and complete projects within established budgets and timelines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Capable of working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, architects, and technicians.
  • Enjoy and thrive in an outdoor work environment year round
  • Physical requirements include ability to walk on uneven, slippery and snow covered ground; ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, ability to effectively use a shovel, hammer and machete
Organizational Relationships:
  • Reports directly to Regional Survey Manager or PM
  • Lead and mentor survey crew staff
Required Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of surveying equipment including Trimble products
  • 3+ years experience in construction staking, multiple types of surveying projects and working on a survey crew
Preferred Education/Experience:
  • Previous survey crew chief experience
  • Part 107 Drone License
  • U/G Utility Locating Certificate
  • OSHA Safety Certifications
Travel:
  • Regional Travel 75% including out of state
