General Construction Laborer / Construction Helper

Godby Hearth & Home is seeking a motivated and dependable General Construction Laborer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with tools, learning new skills, and being part of a team that takes pride in quality craftsmanship.

Whether you have construction experience or are looking to start a career in the trades, we provide on-the-job training and opportunities to grow. You'll assist with a variety of residential construction projects, including fireplace installation, service, framing, demolition, finish work, material handling, and general jobsite support.

We've established ourselves as a trusted provider of high-quality products and services in the residential construction industry. As a locally owned company with fewer than 30 employees, we're committed to creating an inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and supported. This is a full-time, year-round position with overtime opportunities during our busy season.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with a variety of residential construction, installation, and service projects.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist with fireplace installations, maintenance, and repairs while learning the trade from experienced technicians.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Help with demolition, framing, finish work, and general construction tasks as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and assist with repairs.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines and company safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers while representing the company professionally.

  • Construction, remodeling, landscaping, warehouse, delivery, or other hands-on experience is a plus—but we're willing to train the right person.

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no DUI due to insurance requirements).
Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and remain physically active throughout the workday.
