Overview
We are seeking a Senior Roadway Inspector to join our team in Denver, CO.

The Senior Construction Inspector is an integral part of our Construction Management Team. This position will require travel to remote locations within Colorado and/or the western United States to work on roadways, bridges, and other highway infrastructure.
Your role
Major Function/Role:
  • Independently observes the work of contractors during the construction of projects and performs quality assurance (QA) activities.
  • Acts as Owner's Representative for State, Federal, or local clients.
  • Frequently communicates with client representatives, contractors, and regulatory agency personnel to discuss requirements and coordinate efforts.
  • Observes and documents construction activities in accordance with contract requirements that includes but is not limited to: daily diaries, daily payment reports during progress of work, memos to contractor regarding acceptance or rejection of work, change orders, and more.
  • Reviews contract documents, project plans, project specifications, and progress reports.
  • Researches and interprets contract requirements to determine whether construction work is performed in substantial compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks, as well as advise internal project manager and/or owner of any failures or delays.
  • Reviews contractor pay requests for ultimate payment by client.
  • Reviews shop drawings within area of expertise for conformance with design concept.
  • Coordinates operation within organization unit to ensure consistency with policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • With Associate's degree, eight years of related experience. Without a degree, ten years of related experience is required.
  • Certification (or ability to obtain) in applicable areas of work assignments as required by clients.
  • Experience with roadway construction.
  • Experience with bridge construction and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls is a plus.
  • Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must have good computer skills, be able to process paper and electronic documents, and utilize standard office software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work; ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors; and ability to perceive back-up alarms and other warnings.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, subject to insects, flooded terrain, equipment/traffic, and other hazards.
  • Position may require nonstandard work shifts, such as long hours, weekends, or nights as per client and/or manager's direction.
