Job description

Description Coordinates and performs engineering inspections relative to area of assignment; monitors construction for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; prepares and maintains inspection records; responds to inspection/project inquiries and complaints; and performs other related duties as assigned. Examples of Duties Conducts inspections of municipal capital improvement projects, public infrastructure construction, and/or private development projects. Inspects public streets, driveways, utility mains, and/or other infrastructure.

Performs Certificate of Occupancy (COP), erosion control, and/or other types of inspections. Reviews project plans and monitors for contractor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, project specifications, and quality standards. Prepares and maintains various types of inspection records, reports, and documentation.

Communicates with developers, contractors, and/or other parties regarding inspection issues and/or other construction matters. Responds to inquiries and complaints involving projects and/or inspection activities; assists with complaint investigations as required. Participates in reviewing/approving engineering plans and development permits.

Assists with floodplain management activities as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent, and two years experience conducting engineering inspections; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Physical Demands/Work Environment Work is performed in a standard office environment and in the field. Subject to sitting, standing, walking on uneven terrain, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Exposure to variable weather conditions, general construction hazards, heavy equipment, hazardous chemicals, and infectious diseases is involved.
