Job description

This Opportunity

WSP's Engineered Construction team is growing, and we have opportunities for Construction Materials Testing Technicians in Atlanta, GA to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. We are seeking experienced construction engineering inspectors

Your Impact
  • Perform testing on general building sites and facilities
  • Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
  • Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications and ACI Concrete Standards.
  • Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and density calculations and results
  • Test and work in accordance with Company safety policies
  • Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
  • Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • 0-2 years Construction Materials Testing experience either on commercial/industrial construction projects with emphasis on concrete testing and inspections.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good driving History
  • Reliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Excel
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with Associates or BS in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management
  • ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
  • Fluent in Spanish, Japanese, or Korean
  • Working towards BS in the above or BS in Civil Engineering.
  • IBC Commercial Building Inspector Certification
  • ICC Soils Certification

Physical Demands 

  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
  • Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
