Job Summary

We are seeking a Construction Engineer/Inspector Transportation to support roadway and infrastructure projects. This position will perform field inspections, ensure construction compliance with plans and specifications, and coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality transportation projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, and traffic-related construction activities.
  • Ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, DOT standards, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor contractor workmanship, materials, and field operations.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports, pay quantity documentation, and progress tracking records.
  • Verify material testing, certifications, and sampling requirements.
  • Identify construction issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and agency representatives.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and construction schedules.
  • Assist with change orders, field modifications, and project closeout documentation.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in transportation construction inspection or civil construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Preferred:

  • EIT or PE license (or ability to obtain).
  • DOT certifications (ACI, NICET, ICC, IDOT documentation training, etc.).
  • Experience with roadway, bridge, utilities, and traffic control projects.
