Job description

Overview

ProTeX is a privately owned and operated engineering firm with a laid back, family friendly culture where your knowledge and expertise will be respected and valued. ProTeX is seeking a qualified and motivated Geotechnical Engineer (EIT).

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED — If you have experience in the following areas that will be a plus, but applications will still be accepted for anyone with a civil engineering degree and working toward their EIT. It is preferred that you have already taken the FE, but we can help you achieve that. Job Type: Full-time.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field sampling and testing utilizing a drill rig, seismic refraction, double-ring infiltrometer, etc.
  • Performs a variety of skilled professional engineering work in the office and/or field.
  • Observe construction work, document existing conditions, scope work, prepare proposals, perform site studies, identify soil and bedrock, establish laboratory testing programs, evaluate and characterize site conditions, perform engineering analysis and prepare reports. Apply standard engineering techniques and professional judgment to execute work, develop solutions, and make design modifications.
  • Perform geotechnical studies, analysis, and design.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, studies, and evaluations.
  • Review construction observation and testing data and prepare reports.
  • Analyze and design mechanically stabilized earth retaining structures, slope stability, ground anchors, and soil nails.
  • General knowledge of concrete, asphalt, and aggregate materials testing.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-4 years of related experience.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Works well in a team environment; thorough attention to detail.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record and background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
  • Concentration on details, ability to work under deadlines, apply sound judgment, and prioritize tasks.
