Job description

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Construction Engineer Technician to join the Aviation team in Atlanta, GA. This is not a remote position.

We are a fast-growing firm with 500+ employees across 25 offices in 10 states serving clients through our four primary business groups:

As a Construction Engineer Technician, you'll play a key role in the design and construction of airport infrastructure projects. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to work as a team member or independently, and the desire to learn new skills and areas of expertise.

What you will do:

With support, coaching, and direction from CMTโ€™s Aviation Manager and technical leaders, you will serve the firm in the following capacities:

  • Perform, support, and lead on-site construction inspection, observation, and documentation services including supervising and directing junior staff in support of project managers
  • Serve as the engineerโ€™s on-site liaison with the contractor and client and assist the client when required for proper execution of the work
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute required construction documentation including daily reports, pay estimates, change orders, shop drawings, material submittals, progress schedules, project correspondence, testing results, and record drawings in accordance with client and company procedures
  • Perform secondary assignments which may include assistance with planning and design of civil & transportation projects including AutoCAD drafting, surveying, materials testing, or other duties as assigned
  • Communicate, understand, and implement the construction documents (plans & specifications) including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, asphalt & concrete paving, pavement marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoff, cost estimates, and construction scheduling

Here is what youโ€™ll need:

  • Associateโ€™s degree or two-year technical degree in Engineering Technology or related field
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
  • Possess general knowledge and understanding of the construction of transportation, site development, and civil infrastructure projects including the ability to clarify and interpret construction documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD for use in civil & site design projects
  • Strong ability to manage personnel and delegate tasks
  • Strong to work independently and able to effectively manage time and work on multiple projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be willing to accept out of town travel assignments and work overtime to meet construction project demands
  • Must have valid driverโ€™s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship
  • Successful completion of a security background check which requires employment history, verification and criminal history records checks (if applicable) of individuals applying for security badges
  • Demonstrated responsiveness, professionalism, and teamwork

Ideally, you will also have:

  • 2 years of preferred experience
  • Previous construction experience, or internship experience, is preferred but not required
  • Aviation โ€“ related projects experience is not required

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical demands vary depending on the specific nature of assigned projects.
  • Ability to routinely lift 25+ lbs
  • Ability to work and maneuver equipment around active construction sites

The expected compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $95,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
