Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare, submit, and track all building permit applications for city and county jurisdictions where Hartizen Homes is actively building.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments (Engineering, Architecture, Development, Construction) and external parties (municipal agencies, permitting offices, developers) throughout the permit process.
  • Review and coordinate responses to permit comments, ensuring that all required revisions and documentation are addressed and submitted promptly.
  • Ensure all permit applications, bonds, and supporting documents meet jurisdictional requirements and company standards for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate the submission of architectural plans and manage follow-up communication to ensure timely product certification.
  • Obtain driveway, sediment control, and other required bonds as needed.
  • Manage payments and collaborate with permit runners to ensure permits are secured within required timelines.
  • Provide weekly permit status updates to Construction and Development teams to support home start planning and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of permit submissions, approvals, fees, and expiration dates.
  • Monitor changes in local permitting requirements and communicate updates to relevant teams.
  • Support the division’s weekly home start goals by ensuring all required permits are ready ahead of schedule.
  • Provide general office support as needed, including scheduling team events, ordering office supplies, coordinating office lunches, and assisting with other administrative tasks that support daily operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Associate degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and municipal requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management tools such as Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
  • Experience using permitting or project management systems (e.g., Accela, EnerGov, or other local portals) preferred.
  • Previous experience in the homebuilding or construction industry is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for occasional visits to municipal offices.
